I read an article that said "People should stop pretending to like dark chocolate because it doesn't taste well". I can only sigh! The person who wrote the article most probably thinks taste is an objective thing and applies to everyone in the same way. The writer also believes people like dark chocolate because they want to come off as cool. Lol.
I absolutely love dark chocolate. It tastes so rich and it has a good mixture of bitter and sweet taste. I also occasionally like milk chocolate and white chocolate but I often find them to be too sweet. Even dark chocolate cakes taste so awesome. There is some exaggerated claims made regarding the health benefits of dark chocolate. I agree with that. But still dark chocolate is healthy if you don't overeat it and consume in moderate quantity.
So what do you folks feel about dark chocolate?

The darker, the better. An occasional mini-Snickers is the only time I have milk chocolate, as it usually leaves an aftertaste of sour milk. Dark chocolate complements so many other flavors, too ... fruits, creamy flavors and salty tastes. I'm not pretending to like dark chocolate, and have no idea how liking it makes one seem "cool."

The same with me. I have no idea why the writer of that article believes people cannot like dark chocolate and just pretend to like dark chocolate. I just love it. Unlike, some other things such as cheese, I didn't acquire the taste for dark chocolate. I found it perfect the first time I ate.

This is the stuff! I usually eat one little square a day and, yes, it's very bitter. I've been eating this for so long now that regular chocolate seems sickeningly sweet.

Dark Chocolate is my favorite. I don't care for milk chocolate except on a Kit Kat Bar.

Only in the 55% - 72% range. And it's best if it has orange, cherry, or almonds or a combo. I like the fact that I don't need to keep eating more of it.
I have a 17-oz bar of Trader Joe Bittersweet chocolate. Have a cube or two a day. Not real exciting, so the next ones will be flavored.

I will happily eat dark chocolate if somebody offers it to me but I never buy it myself - for my own consumption I only ever buy milk chocolate.

I like dark chocolate, but not the really, really, dark kind, the medium dark is what I like. Lindt is one of my favourites, with nuts.

Aj_June, Yes. I never buy milk chocolate. I prefer dark - Lindt 70% (a bit more sweet) or Lindt 85% (more bitter) dark are my favorites dark bars. Also, for some odd reason, I always crave a square of bittersweet chocolate after having a spicy Thai or Indian meal.

When I used to make chili, I would put a big spoon of Dark Cocoa in the chili.

I like dark chocolate, but not the really, really, dark kind, the medium dark is what I like. Lindt is one of my favourites, with nuts. Lindt extra dark is pretty good and still not completely bitter. Though I also love the ones that are totally bitter like the one Sulla posted.
