The Thing - I think a masterpiece of horror and SF
Poltergeist - works surprisingly well, it is scary at times, humorous, has the tone of a Spielberg directed film

I always thought Halloween III was underrated, and got unfair stick for not having anything to do with the Halloween story. It's still a decent film in its own right and has a John Carpenter feel to it even though he didn't direct or write for it.

It didn't quite work for me, but I actually think it's one of the better films of the series and the Carpenter score is awesome. |

1. Creepshow
2. Amityville II: The Possession (best film in the series)
3. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (best Halloween sequel IMO)
2 and 3 are interchangeable though.
