Never liked Braeburn. Haven't had Cortland in many years. I like Pink Lady, but they are the least nutritious. Honeycrisp are good, but they went massive and are too expensive. Fuji can be quite good, or not. Gala suck, but are now the most popular.

My favorite apple is the Ambrosia, Publix carries the medium size which I prefer but they also have the huge ones. I miss the plain, small Jonathan apples that were popular when I was a child decades ago. I used to like Gala's but they have become tasteless in the past 3 years - what happened? I have been buying some good Honeycrisp but they are so big that I get stuffed when I eat one. I've never had an Arkansas Black because I've never seen them in the stores. I always peel and slice my apples, I can't bite into an apple, my teeth aren't good enough .I do think the apples are getting too big and lack the flavor of smaller apples. Why did they decide to "supersize" apples?

From the Thrillist 'article' ( www.thrillist.com/eat/nation/best-apples-for-baking-eating ) :16. Red Delicious
"A F-cking Atrocity"
Most apple varieties are the product of happenstance and inbreeding, but no cultivar has been quite as petulant as the Red Delicious. As the story goes, some idiot discovered a mutant tree in his orchard, chopped it down, did so again the following year when it sprouted again, and, when it grew back yet again, is quoted as having said, "If thee must grow, thee may," and in the process, revealed himself to be the hokiest pushover in all of history as well as the person responsible for the proliferation of the grossest apple of all time. If I could rank this apple even lower, I would.
F-ck this apple.Hmmm......I get the distinct impression this person may not care for Red Delicious apples. Dude (or dudette, in this particular case)....... get a grip. It's just, to quote you, a F-CKING apple !! SAVE FERRIS

I went to Walmart this morning and noticed a bin of apples, they had a sign that said "New York apples - 84cents a pound" so I bought a few. these apples were small, red with some green on top, they looked like the apples of my childhood and they tasted like the apples of my childhood. I have no idea what kind of apples these are but they taste better than any apples I've had in years. A little tart with some sweetness. No one seemed to be buying them, I'm going back on Thursday morning and I'm going to buy several pounds. Yum!!!

WKM - I found a small bag of Jonathans and bought them expecting happiness. They were mealy and very disappointing. Once my favorite apple and I expected them to be crisp and crunchy. :-(
