I only watch out of curiosity when I come across them on TV. I find them to be campy which makes watching them less scary and not as horrible as watching other scary horror movie villains.
And a killer doll? LOL Just give that fucker a good stomp if he comes at you with a knife.
I'm sure they knew how stupid and ridiculous the premise is. That's what makes them fun. Just silly and stupid and over the top.

I mildly like the entire series.
there are not many horror movies worth re-watching but these are.

Haven't seen a Chucky movie I didn't like.

The original is an entertaining and creepy horror movie and Child's Play 3 is alright, but the rest kind of suck imo.

I liked the first one. The others were ok. I was pleasantly surprised by the later ones that were going off in WEIRD territory like the one where John Waters is spying on Chucky from the ground. "There's a dwarf masturbating in the window."

I really liked the first one, no doubt took heavy inspiration from the "Talking Tina" episode of Twilight Zone. The next two sequels were OK, "Bride" was a bit too silly, stopped caring after that.

I already mentioned I like all of the movies in the series so far in my initial post. but I forgot to mention the general tone of the movies... you could say the first few were similar in style/tone and the 4th/5th movies drifted a bit more into comedic territory and then 6th/7th were back to a more serious tone. p.s. I like the addition of Fiona Dourif (Brad Dourif's daughter. he's the guy who voices Chucky) in the 6th/7th movies.
Based on what you just said... you might like the 6th/7th movies as they are more serious in tone as the 4th/5th movies are a bit more comedic then the rest of the series.

They are good. Except for some of the middle instalments.

The first and second are EASILY the best. I still enjoy the third. It is VERY campy. I just wrote this in another thread. The campiness works though. I honestly thought Bride and Seed were pretty bad and they kind of turned me off to the series. However, the most recent two were pretty darn good to me.

If I had to rank them I’d go... 2 1 Cult Curse 3 Bride Seed

I never found Chucky scary myself but, he and the 'idea of him' maybe are more creepy and unsettling than outright scary. This is a pretty interesting series though... 1 - Loved it 2 & 3 - Have their moments (particularly the finale of '2') 4 - Didn't care for the comedic turn, but this was kind of fun 5 - A little too weird for me lowtacks86 I second checking out the 6th and 7th installment, as they cut down on the comedy and return to the series' roots. Fiona Dourif is awesome in both, and her character is bound to a wheelchair...which ups the threat of Chucky. Though they did some weird design changes to his face, Chucky isn't hamming it up in "Curse" and "Cult." 6 - Breath of fresh air. The scene under the covers actually freaked me out. 7 - A little surreal, but still good. There are moments that are a love letter to "One Flew over the Couckoo's Nest" (Sp?) in where Brad Dourif (Chucky's voice) starred. Overall, I liked the series. Brad Dourif has been voicing Chucky since the beginning and I really think the juxtaposition of such a scary voice coming out of an alternate version of the "My Buddy" doll are effectively creepy. Dourif has the perfect voice. It shouldn't go unnoticed he's been the one and only voice of the character, and seems to throw his all into every movie. Chucky sometimes plays opossum, innocent, and disturbing...so there's lots to play around with for the voice. And that laugh...Dourif is in the same league as Robert Englund (as Freddy Krueger) as he throws his all into the part, having fun but still being scary. Another notable point is that creator Don Mancini has been involved in all seven films, despite the changing tone. Though I didn't care for 4 and 5 for the wildly different tone, there was still a cohesiveness. Ultimately, I don't think these movies would be remembered without Brad Dourif being such a consistently awesome voice for Chucky. His voice/laugh were the reason so many people could be scared by a killer doll. And in 7 movies, he never lets you down.

First one is a fun and actually rather intelligently directed slasher classic. Has elements of psychological horror, in fact, in that for a while it looks like the kid might in fact be the killer.
The second one is a really enjoyable sequel with a fantastic third act.
Child's Play 3 onwards were poor - or at least I thought so.
Haven't seen the newer entries in the series.
