Since June of 2011 in an organization that just puts people in positions to fill positions (they dont' even apply moneyball anymore, there isn't one high OBP guy on the team right now) while trading away any good player who is 3 years away from his free agent year, Melvin is 633-597 with now his 4th post season experience.
Makes you wonder how this guy woudl be with a team that actually cared about its fans and team and signed great players to actual contracts. I hope they are able to resign him but I'd totally understand if he ended up going somewhere else.

The Oakland Athletics have the lowest total revenue in all of Major League Baseball ( $210M )
That is lower than even the often-mocked-for-low-attendance Marlins and Rays ( $213M )

It's mind-boggling that you can go to the Oakland Coliseum and watch a low budget team that can barely pay for the bats and uniforms they use, but take a thirty second walk across the parking lot, and you can watch the most powerful NBA team we've seen since Jordan's Bulls. They literally play right next to each other.
Like I've ALWAYS said, there are no "small markets" in sports, just small market owners.

Like I've ALWAYS said, there are no "small markets" in sports, just small market owners. THIS. The team could get all the free agents they want. It's the exact same market from when Canseco and McGwire were playing. The owner just keeps all the money. In fact with the TV money today, they're making even more money. I wish they'd sell the team. Give them a chance like every other team.

Now in the Billy Beane era, they don't even provide sauerkraut for the hot dogs. What's changed? The stadium is the same, the city of Oakland is still a major US city, the Warriors are spending money and winning, what's so different with the A's, other than cheap ownership?

Cheap ownership. I've been an A's fan since I was a little kid but if they were sold and moved I wouldn't blame them one bit. I'd still follow them but whatever it takes so they can compete again like other teams instead of these douchebags who own the team.
