Curse of Chucky The Conjuring Evil Dead
It was tough deciding between ED, Insidious 2, Mama, The Purge and Oculus, but the ED remake was super gory and probably the most memorable of the bunch, despite not being as strong as the original trilogy.

It's just so completely mediocre imo. It's not good, it's not awful but it is annoyingly pointless and removes everything that makes the OT classic - the humor, the style and Bruce Campbell.

I actually think Evil Dead is the most forgettable horror remake. It's just so completely mediocre imo. It's not good, it's not awful but it is annoyingly pointless and removes everything that makes the OT classic - the humor, style and Bruce Campbell. And it goes way over the top with the gore, but to little effect.

I get your point, but I don’t find it to be forgettable at all. Sure, when compared to the OT it’s not the same, but as its own film it works very well. It just misses the splatstick humour the OT was born to have.

And it goes way over the top with the gore, but to little effect. That is actually one of the best things about the movie imo. I actually do find the gore to be effective and I will give the movie some props for the last 10-15 minutes. I am a fan of the blood rain.

It's the fact that they remade it that annoys me. Why watch the remake when I can just watch the far better OT? That is a HUGE problem for me. Hollywood needs to stop remaking classics.

Yeah they definitely should stop. But there are also some genuine surprises along the way.

Somewhat underwhelmed by this year. Most of my favourites would fall under other.

I see IMDB doesn't list Only Lovers Left Alive as horror, but, hey, it has Vampires, so I'm counting it.

World War Z winning is scarier than any horror film from that year.
Other - Afflicted The Sacrament Evil Dead
This was also the actual year You're Next was released, but I figure you're saving it for the 2011 poll.

These threads might be useful in the future for good horror recommendations.
