It's thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Decided to do it today. Had turkey (22 pounds), scalloped potatoes, rice, homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing, salad, homemade carrot cake. Sister brought lasagna and a cupcake cake. Mom brought apple pie and tiropites. Sister in law brought homemade cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.

Happy Thanksgiving, Mmexis! Your feast sounds wonderful.
I'm going to have to look up "tiropites," as I'm not familiar with it/them.

Just did bacon cheeseburgers with no buns, but splurged on a baked potato with sour cream and butter. We've been skipping potatoes and pasta lately, but it seemed like perfect weather for a baked potato. How is the weather where you are? Kind of rainy and "London-y"? We went from 90F to the 50's with 10 inches of rain in the past three days. It's still raining and there's flooding in the area. How about where you are?

How about where you are? Oh yeah. It's been looming for the past like week or so. Just blah. Definitely becoming autumn but thankfully not freezing.

Divtal: tiropitas are a Greek pastry made with layers of thin phyllo pastry and filled with a cheese mxiture, usually in a triangular shape, they are like appetizers and are very good, I haven't had any in years but try them if you're in a Greek restaurant. I also love spanakopita, a Greek spinach pie . I love a lot of Greek food except for their desserts. Wish there was a good Greek restaurant in Mobile, Al. I miss the food.

I did look it up, and tiropitas sound wonderful. YouTube features videos that cover a variety of recipes for the filling. One uses only feta, eggs and pepper. Several use feta, along with other cheeses. One adds herbs-of-choice, and one makes a bechamel sauce to add to the filling. I've never tried to do anything with phyllo dough. Maybe it's time to try.

You can actually get tiropites in a variety of shapes. I like the "cigar" shaped ones myself. I'm also preferential to spanakopites (spinach pies). I made them once myself. It's cheaper to buy them frozen.

It's cheaper to buy them frozen. I bought frozen spanakopites from Whole Foods but they weren't very good. I'm not Greek so I don't cook Greek but always loved eating at the Greek restaurants in Chicago and when I lived in Greece for a short time in the 70's, I was in "Greek food heaven." Now I'm living in Alabama and have to do without, not too many ethnic restaurants in this area.

Probably linguine with red clam sauce. But I do not eat very early, even on Sunday.

I found a very good buy on a small chuck roast, which I like with asparagus and buttered noodles. I'll cook that tonight with carrots and onions. Tomorrow, I'll add peas, and make mashed potatoes for "cottage pie."

It's windy and chilly out today, which makes it perfect chili weather. I'm going to make some chili and kick it up with diced cooked celery, chopped up egg noodles, and diced chicken breast, topped with some shredded sharp cheddar.

I was a bit naughty... Buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and a few tater tots.
I haven't had them in the longest time and was actually in the mood for them. I rarely do this anymore for health reasons.
