I was disappointed with some parts of it like how they had Luke Skywalker as a grumpy old guy, how they killed Snoke off easily without explaining his backstory and Kylo Ren who is one of the most boring villains I have ever seen but didn't think it was that bad and re-watched it recently. Hopefully they kill off Kylo in the next movie and replace him with an interesting villain who actually acts and looks intimidating.

I liked the first two Disney "Star Wars" films, but I hated "The Last Jedi". My nickname for it is "The Laxative Jedi" because it shits all over everything I loved about "Star Wars".
- Luke Skywalker, the guy who saved his father Darth Vader, who at that point seemed to be irredeemably evil, decides to kill his own nephew, the child of his sister and his best friend, because he saw the dark side in him.
- The filmmakers bring back Yoda! Does he do anything meaningful, help in the final battle? No! Which means in the final analysis, Admiral Holdo, who was generally incompetent, and only got her position due to the fact everyone above her in the chain of command was either dead or incapacitated, got to be a bigger hero than f-ing Yoda!
- And what about that epic light saber duel between Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker? Oh, that's right - there wasn't one! If they were going to have Luke die anyway, why not have him be there in person and have a epic duel like Vader's and Obi-Wan's in the original.
- And don't get me started on Superman Leia!
I even created a movie poster for "The Laxative Jedi": s1196.photobucket.com/user/alpha128_imdb/media/Star%20Wars/sw-the-laxative-jedi-poster.png.html

ok 6/10
Less of a rehash than Force Awakens. Some absurdly cringy writing ("Thats how we win, dummy. Not by destroying the ones we hate, but by saving teh ones we love! BOOOOOMMM - Rebel Base blows UP - They KISS).
Still, where has all the originality and creativity gone...? Did Lucas not sell that aspect to Disney?

SPOILER: It's not real Luke and Yoda. It's Jake Skywalker and Yodel - easy to spot by Yodel calling Luke "Skywalker" (which he never did) and by Jake behaving like a burnt out loser-nutjob.

I did 7.5/10. It's flawed, but nowhere near as bad as the internet makes it out to be.
The showdown at the end on Crait is one of my favorite scenes in the whole saga, as is the Snoke throne room scene.
I do agree that the Casino planet scenes were kinda worthless. That could've been cut out altogether imo.
I also disagree that they'ruined' Luke's character. The movie did a great job of showing Luke as a broken man, and his journey towards redemption.

Worst film in the series (although I never saw Solo). I used to think it couldn't get worse than the prequels, but it did. 2/10. The two stars is for the hyperspace collision explosion. Otherwise it would have been 1/10.
Alpha and Deb address most of my complaints above. Rian Johnson should just start filming Woody Allen type films since that is his idol.

I liked it a lot as I was watching it and immediately afterwards but later, thinking a bit more about it, revised my opinion downwards.
It is still better than episodes 1, 2, 3 and 7 though.

That explains it! Here I was thinking these were established characters who would act in a manner consistent with their previous behavior.

Not only do I like it, but it is my favorite Star Wars movie, and I'm no Star Wars newbie. The Last Jedi captured me the same way "A New Hope" captured me when I watched it on VHS when I was 10 years old. I'm no Force Awakens hater, but here's how I differentiate between the first and second installment of the new Star Wars trilogy. The Force Awakens is a Star Wars movie influenced by Star Wars movies, while The Last Jedi is a Star Wars movie influenced by the movies that influenced Star Wars. The movies that came before in in the series are the embroidery of The Last Jedi, but Akira Kurosawa, Wizard Of Oz, westerns, and WWII movies are the threads that make The Last Jedi. I love how every character is used in this movie, and I hope to God that JJ Abrams doesn't retcon the beautiful palette Johnson created just to appease fanboys who don't actually understand the movies they claim to love.
