We don't really hear much Chinese music here in the West, do we? Indian music at least had a gateway in via hippie culture/Beatles.

Although I own albums from twenty different countries, I don't own any from either India or China.
But I did a very cursory YouTube search and here are the results.
Heavy Metal from India
Heavy Metal from China
Musically, I like the Chinese song better, but the Indian song benefits greatly from having English language lyrics.

I only know Indian music from sitting in Indian restaurants. I could do without the bombastic Bollywood stuff, which I think might have a western Hollywood influence. But the more traditional stuff can be riveting, mostly I'm familiar with instrumental music.
My favorite Thai restaurant has great instrumental music, too. A lute and a harp, mostly. I asked the son of the owner where you can find it and he just said look on youtube for "Thai classical music".
I'm not familiar with much Chinese music.
