he'll probably come back at the end or something, all right I can take that.
But where the hell is Green Lantern? Martian Manhunter? Hawkgirl? Shazam?
These 4 are all STAPLES of the Justice League. You can't have the JL without them. This is madness!

Hawkgirl and Shazam aren't staples of the League. Hawkgirl in particular is primarily a supporting character to Hawkman. She was only a core member in the DCAU, and that was because they wanted the team to have more than just one female. Martian Manhunter also hasn't been a core member of the team since the New 52. He was replaced by Cyborg.

Other than the Saturday morning cartoon, Hawkgirl is about as much a staple of the Justice League as Green Arrow's sidekick is.

I think it's ridiculous that Superman isn't in the trailer. Yeah...we were told he was dead at the end of BvS....BUT....EVERYONE KNOWS he's NOT DEAD. It's ridiculous to exclude him from this when we all know HE IS IN IT!

For casual viewers he's supposed to be dead or at least still buried underground with none of the JL aware he's alive.

For major pLot points like that the director collaborates, and then the writers write it. Snyder has said a few times that this was the best way to go into justice league, them having to come together because there is no superman.

What went wrong I wonder?

I like the lack of Superman and Steppenwolfe. Leave it to the audience to decide if they like the new Superman reincarnation as they watch the movie as a whole. If Superman was shown in the trailer, with no context, then the movie would lose the shock value and the (expectedly) heroic entrance. Plus, people would hate his return if they only saw it in the trailer with, again, no context.
I know that this is disappointing to some, but I have learned a lesson about movies by now: the less you know, the better. At least going into the theater that's a good method to use. There are a few movies I've gone to in which I had no idea about anything, only the actors and title. It was the best decision of my life and it made the movie exponentially better.

What shock value? This is the age of the internet where a simple Google will reveal Superman's going to be in the movie.

It's ridiculous to exclude him from this when we all know HE IS IN IT! surprisingly a lot of people don't. and i've written this once before, but it's like if they show Bucky in an Infinity War trailer....except we just saw him go into cryo-sleep in cap3. we all know he's coming back, but let his absence be felt.

Ya as a DC fan I've gotten pretty good at limiting my expectations.

Several. It's too soon for Superman to be dead. Superman has iconically been one of the founding members of the Justice League in every other iteration, so to have him come AFTER it's formed feels like an insult to the character.
