At the height of the band's career in the late 1970's, the members of KISS tried their hand at making a movie and acting hopefully duplicating the success The Beatles had with "A Hard Day's Night". It didn't go well....... Any of you ever seen this infamous film? If you've seen it, how has it held up?

And why - for some deliciously inexplicable reason - do I imagine staring at my weirdo dog, whom is standing on his hind legs, one paw on his chest, proclaiming in an old-womanly voice: "He doesn't it get it from MY side of the family" All the while, the campy-idiot braying sounds of my hilariously-disabled father echoes mongly.

First watched it on its initial broadcast . . . I was 15, just about to turn 16.
It's always seemed like an entertaining mess/cheesefest to me.
I had it on VHS, now I have it on DVD. Re DVD, it was part of the Kissology sets (which are excellent, I couldn't more strongly recommend them to any KISS fans).

KISS is my all time favorite band. As for the film the re edited film Attack of the Phantoms is far superior. There is more KISS music and far better editing. In general its not a good film but for us KISS fans its a simple fun flick. I like it for what it is.

I saw the initial broadcast of this movie but I think that's the only time I saw it. I recall it wasn't very good.

Oh mah gawd, that film was awful, lol. The only reason I watch it again is because of Anthony Zerbe. He says essentially all the cast and crew were doing was running around the park with a camera, and he fully expected it to be crap, which it was.

I don't think I'd ever noticed, or had forgotten, that this thing was a Hanna-Barbera production. Not surprising; they could have thrown Shaggy and Scooby into the mix and they'd have fit right in.

Was too young to stay up that late when it first aired, had to go back to school and be the one kid who didn't see it. Finally saw it about ten years later on VHS. Watched it again a few months back on YouTube. It's a real retro throwback, a silly plot but as a fan of this era and the band, I loved it anyway.
All of Peter Criss' lines were dubbed by someone else, for some reason.

I have it on 'Kissology 2' DVD too and I like the three 'Kissology' DVDs and hope they are able to release 'Kissology 4' 'cause there are still a lot of their music videos that haven't been released on DVD and I remember reading there were plans to make another one and a track listing was released online but so far it hasn't been released. If they can't get a fourth one out they should release a music video collection 'cause they have heaps of music videos.

It was the beginning of the end for him with the band.

Ace wouldn't show up so they had to have a stunt man fill in some scenes. This black dude.

I remember picking this up on VHS at a Sears Surplus Store (where they placed all the old stock merchandise that didn't sell at the regular Sears stores) for around $1.00 or so in the late '80s. It was pure cheese, but I sure would like to see it again. Those '70s made for TV movies have a certain bit of charm even if they are horribly written or acted.
