Uh, sure. I guess it'll be fine, but movie of the year? Haha, yeah. Don't think so.

Thanks for sharing that. I am looking forward to seeing it. I liked the novel and the original movie and I even thought the sequel wasn't that bad and was funny in some parts so I really hope they do a good job with this movie.

I think I like the sequel more than the original. It was ghoulish fun, but still with a tragic and sad undertone.
King usually works better on the page and with the original Pet Sematary film, there were some things that were done right and some things that were a bit ho-hum. I thought the 2 lead actors who played Rachel and Louis were quite weak. The film lacked a certain something in the atmosphere stakes as well. It was still disturbing as heck in parts and it got better in the last half regarding the plot turn with Gage's character and Jud.
Pet Sematary 2 was able to take the main theme from the first film and then play around with the rest of it, due to it being an original script and made it darkly amusing but still unsettling. Of course we had the always terrific Clancy Brown to round off the proceedings and Edward Furlong was good casting. Nice how director Mary Lambert was at the helm of both as well.
Have you seen Siesta - 87 Deb with Ellen Barkin and a classy support cast? That one from Lambert is intriguing and also disturbing as well. It is smart, intelligent and artful.

Oh. I liked the sequel. There were some people that hated it and put it down all the time but then we have some snobs who put down any sequels in the Horror genre and say they can't possibly be as good as the original movie even though we have had some franchises that have had horrible first movies and sequels that have been far more loved by fans. While I liked 'Friday the 13th' it was Jason Vorhees that made the franchise iconic and get multiple sequels it is likely the original movie would be far more obscure if it wasn't for the popularity of Jason in the following movies. The problem for some people I know with 'Pet Semetary 2' is it was more of a Horror Comedy movie than the first 'Pet Semetary' and the original novel but I liked the Comedy elements and I liked the song 'I've Got Spies' by Dramarama. I agree with you that Stephen King usually works better on page and there have been some adaptions of his work that have been very disappointing but I have enjoyed a few of them and I loved 'Haven' which was loosely based on 'The Colorado Kid' and I am looking forward to seeing 'Castle Rock' which we are finally getting here in Australia on Showcase next month.
I think I might have seen 'Siesta.' I looked it up and it does look familiar but it has been a while since I saw it. I saw 'The Attic' and 'The In Crowd' and I also saw 'Urban Legend 3: Bloody Mary 3' which Mary directed but I sadly can't say I was a fan of that one.

I have to admit I am curious to see how this remake turns out. But what's up with that kiddie Wicker Man-like cult?

I'm torn.
Okay, I like the focus of the road in the trailer as the road is the killer in the original.
I am not happy about the wicker man masks though. That just looks like a dumb direction. Why would you add that?
I like the original pet sematary quite a bit, so I'll be checking this one out. Hope good.

Looks just like a generic redo. Not interested...but I most likely will see it.
