Why are you arguing about what fits the definition of a term you don't even believe in? The term has been around for decades, btw. Some things are considered cultural appropriation and not others because the term was invented to describe the things it is describing. It is that simple. Again, way to show people don't hate TLJ because they're racist, sexist morons. You think going on an off topic debate about cultural appropriation where you deliberately misunderstand the term, call it a made up PC concept, and equate flying airplanes and reading books to dreadlocks for black people does anything to help your case? Lol, just explain to me why only certain things and certain races are subject to your arbitrary ever shifting "rules". Why are dreads cultural appropriation but a black person using electricity is not? First of all, this whole thing started when I called the all-female Ghostbusters appropriation, so if anyone is saying it's limited to just white males, it's not me. And it certainly isn't white people, who complain nonstop about having their pop culture infested by women and minorities. And fine, I'll take your troll bait. A black guy using a lightbulb is not trying to act white, he's just being a normal person who needs to see the inside of a room. Likewise, a white guy mining, doing math, conducting a trade deal with China, eating peanut butter, and using a touch screen is not trying to act black (and thus NO ONE COMPLAINS ABOUT IT). A white guy with dreads generally is trying to act black. No one associates cars and airplanes with one culture, like your beloved dreads example. There's no tactical reason for a white person to have dreads. When the element of a culture is being used like a fashion statement or accessory, that's when it's being called "cultural appropriation". Whether you agree with the term is irrelevant, that's what it was coined to describe and thus its use.

Probably why you don't hear a lot of white people complaining about it like you do minorities.

I see it was just more excuses. I'm making excuses because I can't name examples of black people trying to act white? Shouldn't that be your job as the proponent of cultural appropriation being made up BS and not exclusive to white males?

What kind of things are only associated with blacks? You're starting to sound kind of racist. (actually not just starting, you've sounded racist the whole time lol). You mean there are certain things only black people do?

Why has this become a thing? Movies have bombed since movies have been shown for money. Why is it a female centric movie like Alien or Aliens or Terminator or Halloween could be a hit 30-40 years ago......but people use hating women as an excuse for GB 2016 failing? Why is it people loved Princess Leia but if they don't like Rose Tico they're racist or hate women? Why, because some 14 year old troll on Twitter called her "ugly" or used a racist term? There's billions of people on social media....why do so many want to act like the worst represent the majority? Or if something is said on Twitter it's worthy of consideration? I'm just baffled by the excuses people make for movies bombing nowadays. TLJ sucks. Ghostbusters 2016 sucked. It's that simple. They're bad movies and when you start attacking your audience (I'm looking right at you Paul Feig) IN THE FILM you're asking for trouble at the BO. Leave the politics out. Nobody cares if there are women or minorities if the movie is good. What's more is it's nothing new. Star Trek had women in positions of power and minorities 50 years ago. Everyone loves Star Trek. I mean it's gotten so bad Rian Johnson is posting links to a "study" that shows Russian trolls were responsible for the reaction his movie got. How sad and pathetic is that? Most important points about the issue..I'm old that I remember the 1984 original and follow sand the 2016 one! After all, a fourth Star is Born came out..(but the 1937 Janet Gaynor originmal really appeals to my love of 1930s musical type music..)

Well you have to blame somebody, when you are not able to see that your movie is crap. But i do think there are people who hates a movie simply because there is a female lead, just as i think there are some people who loves a movie simply because there is a female lead. The same could be said though for male leads. It does come down to the movie, regardless of which gender is taking the lead. I know I loved Aliens when it first came out and didn't once question about how the film could have been better with a male lead. Weaver kicked ass, gave the film heart and soul and was just downright awesome as Ripley. That she wasn't recognized by the Academy for a win, if anything, it showed the industry bias and sexism at that time. They were more concerned in how they looked honoring a boring movie with a sentimental nod for a deaf actress, than a sci\fi horror that gave girl power a massive kick start and in the best way possible.
Of course any opinion of film is all subjective, and I never saw the Ghost Busters remake, not because women were in the lead, but because IT did look sucky and I would have felt the same if it was the same movie with all dudes, because crap is crap.

It's easier than admitting that you made a bad or mediocre movie. Plus playing the victim has been very popular for the last coupe of years.

Feologild Oakes I would never take these types seriously because they are not being honest as ones interest/entertainment and the like, which is what movies are all about, does not work that way as NO ONE can honestly like or dislike a movie just because there is a female or no female in it etc.
hanswilm The sad thing is people actually pay attention to these types of people. I would not given them any attention as they are a bunch of screw ups as if you give them attention they suddenly have power they should never have in the first place as people like that will definitely abuse power.
it's like all of these people complaining about trying to change James Bond from white to a black guy or from a male to female. if the high-ups pay attention to these kinds of people it's just going to ruin that series for the rest of us who are actually fans of the series unlike those who complain who just want to ruin everything anyways with their BS politics.

The victim mentality is about coming out on top, due to all the bleeding hearts. If you aren’t going to get the attention one thought they were entitled to, they will settle for other means.
