OH god time to lambaste Kinberg.
He's a hack.
OR I knew he was going to frig up the X-men and this is proof.
Or Alternatively this is fake news as anybody connected to the XMU hates the MCU.
Or either Kinsberg or EW was bribed by Disney to say this
OR ***keep the train running reply with your reasons for him saying this

How is that possible when this movie started filming before Thor 3 came out? At least for the original cut.

How is that possible when this movie started filming before Thor 3 came out? At least for the original cut. Your are right this is weird. Thor Ragnarok came out November 3, 2017. Principal Shooting for Dark Phoenix started June 28, 2017 to October 14, 2017. So they were not just filming before Thor Ragnarok came out they were finished with principal photography. Kinberg said that post production would last a year. He could've meant that the film is going to look like Thor 3, but that's a stretch. There are plenty of things you can change in post production for the look and feel of a movie. You can't really change shots and plot with it. Reshoots started late August 2018 to rework some of the movie after test screening. Originally, it was said these reshoots were just normal run of the mill kind of thing. It took so long to start reshoots because of scheduling conflicts. Later it was reported that Kinberg rewrote the entirety of the third act. (the reason for pushing it the first release date to Feb, because post production couldn't finish on the reshot ending.) So it's possible he meant that after seeing Thor in late 2017 and forced to rewrite the 3rd act he made changes to the entire movie based on what he saw. The reports are pretty vague other than changing the whole third act. It's possible they reshot other scenes in the movie to make it more like Thor 3. Still this seems like a stretch to me. If this is true then Kinberg and Fox are really playing the reactionary game. And as the DCEU has proved being reactive instead of being proactive doesn't end well. I hope we aren't having a Josh Trank like meltdown. This is Kinberg directorial debut. Contrary to what people think directing a big block buster with the pressure of fans and studio it can be quite daunting and tedious. He seems like he is being overly concerned about certain aspects of post production, and the reshoots, and making changes to fit the screeners. This is a wild guess and I hope it's not true. Not because it might make a movie suck, but just on a human level.

I loved Ragnarok but that's not the right tone for something like Dark Phoenix.

Making changes to a film based on test screenings can be a good thing. As was the case with Deadpool 2 and Blade.

It just seems like DCEU would go in any direction the wind blew. BvS was supposed to fix the failings of MoS and the address the concerns of the destruction porn ending. SS was supposed to start a new direction and was merged/edited/reshot to make it look like the successful trailer, Wonder Woman did seem to show the had a new direction and then JL happened. They did the reshoots to make it more fan friendly.

Which Thor? Hopefully the first one because The Dark World and Ragnarok sucked.
Really?! So it'll include the Hellfire Club and aliens?! I seriously doubt that!

Looks like Kinberg said in EW that they were inspired by Thor Ragnarok. Uh oh. you forgot the last part and the most important. TONE
The problem we had with thor is not the cosmic part (which is cool) but the tone.
LMAO.Thatguy/bud47 you fail again. no wonder you did not post it shall I?

I cropped the next sentence of that quote just to be like some friends we have here. lol
You chopped the most important part of the sentence , a sentence that proved why thor 3 was garbage. ''It’s a movie that goes into space and is cosmic, very much inspired actually by what [Taika] did with Thor — even though the tone is totally different — but just the ability to make a character movie that still feels grounded, and fun, but is in whole other universes''.
ew.com/movies/2018/10/06/dark-phoenix-thor/
I think people asked many times why thor 3 was a comedy and dark phoenix is a serious drama ...STILL GROUNDED?

I loved Ragnarok but that's not the right tone for something like Dark Phoenix. it isn't and the director said it is not. check it out ew.com/movies/2018/10/06/dark-phoenix-thor/''It’s a movie that goes into space and is cosmic, very much inspired actually by what [Taika] did with Thor — even though the tone is totally different — but just the ability to make a character movie that still feels grounded, and fun, but is in whole other universes''.
thatguy wants you believe the movie is a jokey comedy when the director said it is not. I have no problems with cosmic stuff. thor has always done well with cosmic, its the story telling and tone that was the problem with the films. when we said we hated THOR, it was because of the comedy disney tone not the cosmic elements.

I said I stopped the quote before it said that about tone in the post you replied to and quoted. You gotta start reading my posts. Also, he called Thor 3 grounded. Take that.

um...thor 3 cosmic element was good. I have no problem with that though I wonder now that disney bought fox. fox is now mysteriously using all these mcu references. first with was gambit as a rom com , now this. so the influence of Disney is already showing. ofcourse dark Phoenix tone will still be drama because disney and fox cant afford any backlash of such an iconic story.
if disney had xmen from the start this would have been a comedy. thank goodness the genre died before they bought fox
