I was never a fan of his work. Nevertheless it hurt me to see people go after him(as they did Lucas) when he found himself in a creative rut. However with the release of The Visit which was a return to form, and Split which even his harshest critic(YourMovieSucks) admitted was good. Split which I've seen recently was an incredible film, which had me hanging at the edge of my seat. I eagerly anticipate Glass.
That's a hell of a trilogy right? Unbreakable Split Glass.

Yeah, I am actually Pretty Excited about "GLASS" as well.
Although, I do think that an argument could made about "SPLIT" actually being M. Night Shyamalan's Comeback Movie.

His career was made on gimmicks and multicultural virtue signalling.
Sorry to be blunt but that's the way I see it. It's unfair for him to be singled out as a Spielbergian hack given how much company he has in Hollywood though.

I'm still waiting on a sequel to The Happening. It's called The It Ain't Happening.

Somehow I’ve avoided seeing The Sixth Sense for all these years. I’m not rushing. I know the ending.

I wasn't that bothered about The Visit but Split was a return to form. I'm still not totally convinced he's out of the woods yet, as it's only been one good film after a very poor period of mainly stinkers.

I haven't seen The Visit, but every indication is it sucks. Split had a good buildup but a terrible reveal, and I couldn't care less about an Unbreakable trilogy. Really underwhelming, disappointing movie.

He's overrated as the only movie of his I mildly like at this point in time is Signs (2002).
either way, whether you think he's overrated or not... usually when someone disappears, they tend not to make any comeback that lasts. so even if this movie does decent, it's probably a one time thing and he will mostly disappear again. that's why I wonder why people say "is this going to be so and so's comeback?" because it's basically rare that when someone disappears for quite a few years that they suddenly become relevant again that last for years.
