I'm about one-third through. It's pretty exciting. Great cast, suspenseful premise. When it's over, I will be coming back to see if anybody else has commented on the movie.

I enjoyed it very much. Tense and thrilling but with a sense of humour too. Top-notch cast with Martin Balsam the stand out for me.

Awesome film. Saw it on TV in the early 1980's. Haven't seen the remake but heard it was good.

I actually liked the Remake with Denzel Washington and John Travolta. Awesome film. Saw it on TV in the early 1980's. Haven't seen the remake but heard it was good. I've seen both and I prefer the orig. You just can't beat Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau. The newer one looked more like a hack job to me.

I gave the original a 9/10, and the 2009 remake a 10/10. There was also a 1998 TV movie remake that I haven't seen yet. That one starred Edward James Olmos, Vincent D'Onofrio and Donnie Wahlberg.

I liked the remake better but this one has its moments. It works well as a time capsule of New York City at the time.

Holding a subway train for ransom? Sounds silly, but the film works quite well. Saw it in NYC a few hours after my first subway ride.
Loved the line from the subway administrator: "What the hell do they expect for their lousy 35 cents...to live forever?"

Superior 1970s action thriller with a sharp sense of humor. I particularly like the banter between the mayor and his assistant.
Keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. About as exciting as a movie can get.

I have asked thi question FAR TOO many times.
