It's going to have to be R rated.
I mean it's the one only way to do Carnage justice.

Yup it has to be R rated. It would be as bad as making Deadpool PG.

It's going to have to be R rated. I mean it's the one only way to do Carnage justice. Name me one instance in which a PG13 movie has had an R rated sequel...
Tons of people can be killed in a PG13 movie, and a villain as vile as Carnage can still be shown to be a true maniac, without the R rated level of blood and gore. That's all an R rating gets you, is blood and gore. It doesn't make the story better. They've done lots of villains justice within PG13 boundaries.
OF COURSE, they're going to keep it PG13! They don't want to lose money! They're not stupid. An R rating drastically undercuts a movie's success at the box office. Deadpool is a fluke, not the norm.
Why do you people keep insisting? Forget about it. Instead focus on whether or not the movie is good.

Because Carnage is a violent character and not the PG-13 kind of violence. Putting him in a PG-13 setting is like neutering him. You might as well change his character from a violent serial killer to some asshole who hands out flowers. Fuck this PG-13 bullshit. What's next? PG-13 Punisher? No one wants that.

Venom is a violent character, he killed people in the movie, and they did it in PG13. They just didn't show blood and gore. What you want is blood and gore. Blood and gore doesn't make for a good or better movie, its just bloodier and gorier. If you want that then go see a horror movie, where it belongs.
And changing his character from a violent serial killer to some asshole who hands out flowers just because he's in a PG13 movie is suuuuuuuch a silly statement to make. Not accurate at all.
Why do you need to SEE the ripping of the flesh in order to know that Carnage killed a guy? He can still kill the guy and have it be a significant event in the story of the movie WITHOUT gallons of blood splashing across the screen.
B) Again you're wrong. If we look at box office (the only indicator we can count on for how popular a movie is) then you will see that almost all the top most money making movies are PG13. So it seems A LOT of people want that.

Name me one instance in which a PG13 movie has had an R rated sequel... Die Hard 5 and Riddick. Those were middle installments in franchises that STARTED rated R. If anything you prove my point that even they thought the sequels should go PG13 instead of remaining R.
And were either of those movies better because they went back to R? Not really.

Carnage is basically a horror film. His whole thing is he loves violently killing people. As for Venom, the film was horribly cut for a PG-13 rating. Riot cleans a room filled with people without any blood spilled? What kind of bullshit is that? Carnage won't translate well in a PG-13 setting.

It depends. I watched the X Rated version of Robocop and it would be PG-13 today.

Too violent for the kiddies. Violence rarely means anything with regards to ratings today. Robocop is pretty tame honestly. All the MPAA cares about his nudity and to a lesser extent language.

The original is still deemed one of the most violent action movies ever, and boy it is; Veerhoven on the commentary track even talks about people leaving during the premier due to the violence and gore.
Masterwork.

true, but don't get your hopes up. Sony has MCU balls, meaning none. Was any of their CBM outputs ever R-rated? It is unlikely that they will allow for a Logan, Watchmen or even Deadpool or BvS.
The resounding commercial triumph of Venom will likely not improve the odds. I hope that at least the extended "Hardy" cut has some more explicit material.
