Just rewatched it yesterday. I know it bombed in America and is flawed, but it's still more entertaining and better directed than all Disney Star Wars movies. Bill Pullman's President Whitmore was handled respectfully unlike Luke Skywalker. Judd Hirsch, and Jeff Goldblum are great and I loved seeing them again. They didn't suffer character assassination the way Han and Luke did.

No it's not. Don't be blinded by your hatred of Disney Star Wars to see ID4 2 is much shittier.

No. ID4 2 is more Transformers & it's even worse than TF sequels. They've set up an even more sci-fi sequel to come if anyone dare produce it. A huge far cry from ID4 which remains iconic 90's pop culture, & dare I say would probably make my top 500 films.
The problem with Disney SW & to a lesser extent the PT, is they're poor for SW standards, which are greater than ordinary. The worst of SW is still better than most.

Yes it had some "Transformers" moments and I revile those movies, but ID4 is one of my favorite 90s movies and Resurgence satisfied my nostalgia for the original well enough. I can't say the same for Disney SW. Resurgence WAS a hit internationally and a third one is on it's way.

The Disney Star Wars must be pretty fucking bad if that's true.

It should also be noted that Resurgence is far superior to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies you fools are so fond of. Come at me, bro!

To each their own.
I'll give it this; I've been saying for a long time that aliens actually coming here is astronomically unlikely because how could they possibly survive the journey? Where are they coming from? Is there enough fuel in the universe to make the journey and could anything possibly have the lifespan to endure the trip?
Independence Day Resurgence had one of the only interesting takes I've ever seen on that question. Their ship was a multi-generational ship with its own colonies, farms, like a self-contained little country. Their ship was bigger than our biggest continent.
It's still a slug of a sequel (in my opinion) but their take on how the aliens managed the trip here was refreshing to me. Unless I really think hard, that's the only thing I remember from the movie.

E.T.'s would have to have some faster than the speed of light, by a lot, to even recognize us, let alone travel here. We're discovering stars that many could be already extinguished yes?
