What's there to smile about? I don't know why people pay to cry from movies.

If you smile, the camera cannot capture your soul.

If you smile, the camera cannot capture your soul. They will starve regardless. All dozen of them or so.

People smile if it's a fun occasion during the picture.

The person with the camera ALWAYS says "smile!" Sometimes they say, "Say cheese." And then everyone says, "GOUDA!"

Because smiling in a picture gives off more of a positive image than looking grumpy etc. who does not like when someone smiles in general?
it should be pretty obvious why many people smile in pictures given the above info.

Because everyone saw what it looked like when you didn't smile in pictures during the 1800s. You often couldn't tell which person was the corpse.

It took so long to take pictures back then that no one could hold a smile long enough to not move and spoil the image. when you stop to think about it, it's a "well, duh !". those pictures of the family with the corpse are pretty creepy but usually no-one is smiling in the wedding pictures either. The dark dresses are rather surprising β¦ and that "hat" β¦

I agree. Which is why I don't fake a smile unless there's something to smile about.

True! Smiling for a picture gives off positive vibes but can't help but think that most of them were just faking it for the camera and they weren't even feeling cheerful at that particular moment.

But why should they give off a positive image if they are not positive on the inside? That's a very bad mentality to have and could be the reason why so many issues people have go unresolved, because they are hiding them within. Look how common it is that friends and family members of suicide victims say how completely shocked they were and say there were no signs they were in pain. Maybe because they were hiding their true feelings thus showing no signs of what they intended to do. It's like when people say "how are you?". Don't just be a robot and say "good thanks" if you're not actually good. Say "pretty shitty". Don't go around pretending to be happy just because society tells you that's how you should be.
