6/10. Not bad, but mostly not that interesting or memorable.

A generous 4/10 because they seem like nice guys. Musically the very definition of bland.

I loved the first two albums. After that it got a tad stale.

I loved the first two albums. After that it got a tad stale. Agreed. They were probably my favorite band in 2000, when their third album came out. After that, I quickly lost interest. They kind of became a generic "rock band" IIRC, the lame ass lyrics "I'm giving you the best, the best, the best, the best of me" was the deal breaker.

Not a big fan of Taylor Hawkins, but I love the band. Grohl has put out some really good material. Fun stuff.
8/10

Lol, I actually liked that song, but I do agree that the lyrics were weak. I liked the melody and music.

7.5/10. Good band that has seen better days. Their first three albums in particular are strong. The self-titled debut from '95 likely has the hipster seal of approval for its raw, punk-grunge vibe and lo-fi production/mixdown. I kind of enjoy more songs off of that one than "In Utero".
Side note: Dave Grohl has more talent in his pinky finger than the majority of the quantized, vacuous hip-hop and "r&b" that has monopolized the Top40 over the past few years.

Definition of "Meh"...Just don't feel any excitement when I've heard them..They are not Matchbox 20 bland or as bad as Nickleback, but they aren't much...5/10 for decent videos

I think it's worth a mention that other than the guitar on one track and bass on another, the '95 debut is all Dave Grohl.

8.5/10.
I say that only because they do have quite a few songs that I like.
I had downloaded, maybe 4 or 5 songs from their Greatest Hits compilation on iTunes. It got to the point where it was only going to cost me a few more bucks for the whole compilation.
LET'S DO IT!

Their early stuff isn't bland. Haven't paid so much attention to them of late.

Probably a 6/10, which, from me, is really low. It wouldn't put them higher than, say, the 15th percentile. I don't actually know their music that well, though.
I do love "Walking After You". I've never heard anything else by them that I liked anywhere near as much as that, though. And part of why I love that particular tune is probably the "X-Files" connection.

They can coast off of the self-titled and The Colour and the Shape for the rest of their career, for all I care. Those albums are so iconic to me. I've followed them through the years and though they have yet to reach those same heights, I thought Wasting Light came pretty damn close. I saw them on that tour and they put on a phenomenal show. With so much energy and passion poured into those three hours, what's not to love? Even their "bad" albums have a few keepers.

Better than Dropkick Murphys, worse than U2. Probably closer to the latter. They are a bit overrated but that doesn't change the fact that they're a decent band.

Very good for a mainstream rock band, who still put out good music
