I hear Carra compared that Spa-Eng game to a Champions League quarter final last night. Was it really that good? I always thought at least theyre better than the useless friendlies. Are they more competitive or what? Are the games finally growing on ye?

It's shite. Nobody understands it.
Mind you I'm not a big international fan anyway.

I like it. Not massively, but comparatively. Friendlies were black holes.

Are they more competitive or what? Are the games finally growing on ye? I'm afraid the games aren't growing on me, probably because I've only watched two and a half of them - although the game in Sevilla last night was a cracker. Nations League is summed up for me by the England fans singing "We are staying up, say, we are staying up" after the first goal v Spain - nothing wrong with that, they seemed to have grasped the format. But when the second one went in the cry of "We're gonna win the League" confirmed that at any given time nobody really fully understands this unwinnable 'league'. But, yes, I enjoyed the game last night. I also watched the Croatia/England game with the headset on. You could hear nearly every word from players and touchline alike. The chants from the England fans outside the stadium came through loud and clear. At one point you heard "Pickford, give us a wave, Pickford Pickford, give us a wave." The keeper duly obliged, lifting an arm for a moment to a good cheer. But my favourite audio moment came from Jordan Henderson in the second half. Having been awarded a free kick against him for a soft foul on one of the Croat players who went down a little too easily, the camera showed Henderson jogging away in true John Aldrich style, spitting out his venomous refrain..."Fooking cheat! fooking cheat, fooking cheat" Three times The half a game I watched was a Scotland gig which I gave up on at half time.

Two things. First, I was wrong about this league being 'unwinnable' as stated back in October. Portugal has just won it. Back then, though, there was a fair amount of confusion and I didn't read the format properly (did anyone?) Secondly I've changed my vote from Don't Care to Yes. If it's a black/white choice I'd have to say it's better than the inconsequential friendly matches of before where all teams gained by winning them was a couple of points in the World Rankings. It’s not a bad idea, and the big benefit is that deliberate fudging of ranking points earned/lost in friendlies has disappeared. Remember how a few years ago both Romania, Czech Republic and Switzerland, despite being no more than second tier sides at best, somehow managed to get ranked in the top 10 and got seeded for World Cups / Euros ? This will hopefully eliminate that.....

MrFurious Personally, I didn't watch the men play the Swiss yesterday but did watch the women play Scotland. That is how I view this "competition".
