Too many to name, but my favorite scene in the movie is when Wendy discovers the writings of Jack and how he mentally abuses her for the following 5 minutes until she hits him with the baseball bat and he falls down the stairs and how it edits to the blood and Danny's vision in between.
Fucking brilliant scene.
Other favorite scenes.
The opening drive The bathroom scene with Grady "Little Pigs, Little Pigs, let me come in" Room 237 Wendy seeing visions of the past Jack's nightmare (one of the few scene where we see the human side of Jack) The bar scene
The movie is basically one bone-chilling moment after another.

All the scenes with Shelly Duvall. She is the films saving grace. Oh both she and Jack Nicholson were Amazing in the Movie.

I actually really love the film up to the point that Shelly Duvall sees the typewriter and the repeated message (we all know what that is). The suspense up to that point just builds and builds and there is so much tension. After that and Nicholson finally goes ballistic the film is still good but it loses a little bit for me. Turns into more of a traditional horror film. I also don't like Halloran's end. What's the point of his character in the film to get "axed" off that quickly. The book does a better job in my opinion regarding his character.

I think everyone’s said my favourite moments, but I’ll give my favourites even if they were already mentioned:
- Here’s Johnny! - Come and play with us, Danny. Forever. And ever. And ever... - I’m not gonna hurt ya, I’m just gonna bash your brains! - Redrum reveal in the mirror - Jack’s conversation with Delbert Grady

No 1--The tour of the pantry. It's neat to see so much food being stored and being informed that you could eat differently every day for a year.

I don't know why, but Dick Halloran lying on his bed in his room decorated with the nude paintings always amuses me.

Yeah, this one is my only favorite. I love how there is no speaking, the way the camera follows and the way the sound changes from the bare floor to the rugs back to bare floor. And that looks like fun! Being able to pedal around like that in that big place.

#1 - The look on Shelly Duvall's face the moment she sees the axe making its way through the bathroom door. It's practically iconic, and it's the same shot that's on most of the film's dvd sleeves. Her fear is extremely believable.
#2 - When Shelly is trying to keep Jack at bay with the baseball bat
#3 - When Scatman is lying in bed, watching tv, and the painting of the Nubian goddess is hanging on the wall. Now that made me laugh.

Oh both she and Jack Nicholson were Amazing in the Movie. Nicholson not so much. I have seen better performances of his. He was mugging to the camera. I agree.

As for Duvall, she was so controlled in this film, that there was no real instance when we could laugh at her, like in 3 Women, but she was still mighty fine.
But that look on her face just seemed like it was Duvall herself who was terrified.
