This Below is from the WIKIPEDIA (which I know is not always reliable) Page for the New " HALLOWEEN" Movie. "Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers / The Shape, the masked figure who stalks and kills teenage babysitters on Halloween night. Castle reprises his role in one scene with Curtis, and did all of Michael Myers' breathing sounds in post-production. Tony Moran portrays the character in scenes where he is not wearing his mask, also reprising his from the original film." It says on imdb trivia that Tony Moran was asked to appear in the movie, but he refused. LOL, Seriously ? Well that means then that either IMDB or WIKIPEDIA is wrong and knowing my own luck, it is probably WIKIPEDIA!

That's certainly the best way to look at it. Ignoring the other sequels ended up being pointless because the film is constantly reminding you they exist by referencing and paying homage to them, and characters act like Laurie and her family are a big deal to Michael (though, to the film's minor credit, it's ambiguous if Michael himself actually gives a sh*t) so they might as well have kept that lame sister twist. The PTSD as well as the last 15 minutes are obviously very H20. I found the tone, however, in line with the Zombie film, if anything. Obnoxious characters getting offed in brutal ways by a Michael that feels more like Jason.I don't agree about the tone being in line with the Zombie movies, but I get why you are saying that. Maybe it's that Green is a much more skilled director, so this is what it looks like when you actually pull it off. Maybe that was meant as a shout out to Jason. I wouldn't put it past them. My biggest disagreements with you is about the humor and Michael's size. Most of the humor is handled very well imo and most of the time the way the scenes with Michael are shot his size wasn't even noticeable to me. However, his size is definitely noticeable in the opening scene. My biggest problems with the movie is the performances by Judy Greer and her daughter and I'm still not quite sure why this movie even exists. Maybe to get the bad taste of the last 3 Halloween movies out of people's mouths and end the franchise on a respectable note. I have a hard time believing that this will be the last movie in the franchise though because it practically works as a semi-reboot. I'm pretty sure the only part with Nick Castle is the scene where the camera follows Michael after he runs into the kids on the sidewalk. He looks a lot smaller and less bulky in that scene. Well I never said it was a complete farce. Just jokier than H20 which beadle compared it to, and said jokey moments were REALLY jokey which cut the tension for me. The kid's reaction to his babysitter dying, Laurie pistol whipping the sheriff on accident, fed guacamole sexily, etc. There was also the scene with the doctor wearing Mike's nask, which I'm not sure was meant to be funny or not, but goofy it was. I figured the unmasked scenes were Nick Castle. Who even knows. I thought he looked big in every scene, that one included. It's all relative, I guess. Michael is a toothpick in that original movie, and I just watched it to prep for this one.

The part with the mask I actually found really creepy. I didn't even find the kid's reaction to his babysitter dying funny, nor did I think it was suppose to be. The only part that bothered me was the guacamole scene, but David Gordon Green did a great job of transitioning to terror right after. I don't even remember the pistol whipping scene. I guess it just comes down to different reactions. As you said, darksidebeedle thinks H20 is more joke-y.

I had to do a lot of checking but I finally found out when Nick Castle's 1 Moment as Michael Myers in the New Movie is.....Here it is below! Yep, That is indeed Nick Castle as Michael Myers!
