In hindsight of that MCU feels empty video that caused such a stir, there is one thing in the video that hit hard as a long time marvel fan like me. according to narrator the difference between X-Men 1 and Avengers is X-Men 1 was a thought provoking movie that made you think deep,, Avengers 2012 makes you want to buy action figures.
Is what xmen and real marvel fans have been saying for years, is there any mcu fan that disagrees at this point. I will just post 2 parts of both movies that does make that theory true.
Avengers 1
X-Men 1
when you just look at the two movies, you gotta admit, one (avengers) is an ad for toys. the other, well it's... ian mckellen and partick stewart been too good for their own good, you wonder what they are talking about for two intelligent guys playing these characters and want to be part of their conversation.
Also to think this is X-Men 1. Not X2 or DOFP that was the highest climax of xmen best story telling and themes.
How sad, to see the state of marvel. so disgraced.

Putting tone aside X-Men 1 is only slightly better than Batman & Robin and easily more boring.

"Factual" Factual =disney-MCU thinks comic movies are just to sell toys and nothing serious or deep can come from it.

Putting tone aside every MCU movie is only slightly better than Batman & Robin and easily more boring. Fixed, kiddo. You're welcome! ETA: innit?

X-men was more thought provoking than Avengers sure. The Avengers was the better movie overall though, it was just an entertaining movie, it didn't have to be deep. The MCU movies of today are sort of like the Speed, Predator, Rambo movies of the 80's and 90's. Still X-men had plenty of toys.

Theory = a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
Factual = actually occurring.
You cannot use them to describe the same thing in a sentence because they counter one another.

oh, don't forget the explosions from avengers. this is the closest thing X1 had to explosions. pretty none. also check out the tone and how real the films looks, it does not look like a cartoon.
this scene had so many stakes. avengers loki is taking out for jokes by hulk. the others are fighting alienbots and having unrealistic fun with it unlike xavier and jean who did not even crack a smile during this scene. Xavier is even scared due to how humans will react, proving mutants are dangerous. Jean look stunned and shocked just how far magneto is willing to go.
so sad....to see disney destroy marvel like this. at least many are now speaking out.

again, I am cool with toys as long as it is a secondary thing. it is not for mcu disney, toys are their movies. there is a big difference.

The first X-Men's so safe though, so colorless. It's almost boring, save for some decent performances and a terrific discovery in Hugh Jackman. The action figure commercial approach might have even worked better. It's not bad, it's just safe. It shot for the middle and that's exactly where it landed.
The MCU could have never existed and I'd still find the X-Men movies underwhelming, save for First Class and Days of Future Past (the latter taking me a long time to come around to). And the Deadpool movies if they count. But I've been finding the X-Men movies underwhelming since 2000 and the MCU didn't exist for another 8-9 years yet.

No, I'll stick to my counterfactual theory, thank you. That the Fox XMEN movies are the height of broey dbag common-denominator popcorn garbage that often plagued the superhero film genre and signified the creative dearth opined by outside observers and media insiders before the great revival of 2008. Disagree? See these videos for the third entries of each franchise. How each installment delivers an exceptional piece of dialogue exemplifying their creative state of mind. Note the class and wit displaying the sophistication of Marvel's brand of humor and writing compared with the crass vulgarity of Fox's lowbrow bottom feeder-friendly XMEN movies. It's like comparing a scalpel with a hammer.
XMEN: THE LAST STAND
IRON MAN 2
How sad the state of morons. So disgraced. Not impressed? Well of course you wouldn't because these types of threads are just absurd and nonsensical bait threads against rival fandoms. That much is true.

All comic book movies exist to sell merchandise, be it toys, shirts, or COMICBOOKS. To believe otherwise is exceptionally delusional. Xmen was like Blade & Raimi's Spiderman.

only children are obsessed with colours. its a right of passage. as a kid your parents and teachers buy you many colourful crayons and pens but as you get older and enter high school and college you realize you can and should only write with blue or black pen.
most mcu fans find xmen films underwhelming , its a reflex action of them knowing mcu movies are trash. so they hate the non trashy marvel movies that made people think.

only children are obsessed with colours.
Then I guess Dario Argento was a child when he made Suspiria and Mario Bava was a child when he made Blood and Black Lace and everyone who likes those movies and enjoys their use of colors is a child. But you have no idea what I’m talking about, innit?
