I'm biased because I like most of Cameron Crowe's films. I know a lot of people who don't like it, but VS is one of my favorites.

I think it's an excellent film. Very underrated.

My thought is that I just got done riding the subway. And not 20 minutes ago, there were two young women having a conversation about "Vanilla Sky". Hmmm...

I quite liked it, was nice to see Crowe who I usually don't think that much of, step out of his comfort zone.

Cruise me thinks would've been nominated and so would Diaz had the movie been embraced more as well.

I was just referring to the subject matter and the ambiguity/mystery of the narrative.

Yeah no problem, I totally agree with you on those aspects, it sort of was refreshing seeing Cameron Crowe step outside the box and do something you wouldnt really expect.

I like the opening scenes in the empty streets with the Ferrari 250 GTO (even if it was a replica). I also like the fact that Cameron Diaz's character drives an old Buick Skylark. Lots of classic cars mixed with the Bob Dylan skylines. The soundtrack was excellent too, it exposed me to Sigur Ros, one of my now favorite bands. Kurt Russell's role while limited was good, he can always make just about any movie entertaining.

That could be a sign. I haven't seen it, so can't comment. Maybe so. I do tend to believe in that sort of thing. And I like Cameron Diaz, and she is supposed to be really good in this. Think she got a couple critics' awards for her performance.

This is one of my favorite movies. Crowe knocked it out of the park with tone and soundtrack. Perfectly cast.
It stuck with me because while being a sort of "star-crossed lovers" story, it never had you totally on Cruise's character's side. He was kind of a dick for a lot of it. It's interesting to follow a protagonist like that, and Tom Cruise delivers big time.
Other characters have a lot of layers too. Jason Lee's character for instance, seems like there's something he's not telling us.
Then there's Kurt Russell. I loved his character. He was largely what helped me not see the twist (I won't spoil it) coming. There was a genuine-ness to him. His last speech is my favorite part of the movie.
That's to say nothing of the superb supporting cast all the way around. This movie somehow felt surreal and real at the same time...from the fantastically long elevator ride to the cold, honest depiction of a really bad car crash. One of my favorites for sure. Great soundtrack too.
Oh, and I forgot to say how gorgeous Penelope Cruz is in this. I would not have got in that car, David.

It's forgettable unlike the directors other movie Jerry Maguire (1996) which is within my Top 22 movies.

I've always liked it. I think it's slightly better than the original, which also stars Penelope Cruz.
