Great lists here. I just wanted to add that I love Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) more than any of the films I listed (save Psycho) but I never considered TCM to be a full-fledged slasher movie. Hence, I didn't put it on my list. TCM has elements of the genre (or rather it influenced the slasher genre) but it also has elements of backwoods/rural thrillers like Deliverance and true crime thrillers since it was loosely based on Ed Gein's exploits. One Redditer even described TCM as a 'reverse home invasion' film. Hmm. One of the great things about TCM is how it influenced so many horror films that came after it - slashers and non-slashers alike.
Anyway, I'm glad to see it on people's lists but just thought I'd add my two cents.
