How should Marvel Studios handle a modern version?
Because if they use a WW2 background for Magneto he'll be around the age of 100 in a modern setting.

Dont go down the SJW route like they have been doing by making him black or muslim. Just make him the grandson of Jewish holocaust victims at the concentration camps. Have him live in a place in current day where Jews are still discriminated against, and perhaps have his parents killed by Jew hating group of people leaving him orphaned. Just dont take away his heritage in Judaism completely.

As long as they don't make the villains the stars, avoid a creatively bankrupt script that endorses a "grounded" approach, and embrace the wondrous they should avoid any and all obstacles to a high RT rating and garner plenty of artificial boosters.
ETA: Innit?

Have the same events happen but from the Vietnam War? Somehow?

I barely see any equivalent post WWII backstory of racial persecution that could work for Magneto. Those things mostly occured in the great wars on a larger scale (Armenians, Jews etc). Life under communism will not have the same impact.
MCU will either make Magneto a cartoonish plot device for teh heroes to shine (without grounded, plausible psychological background of his own), or let him time travel via magic snow a la Cap.

He can be born in 1935. That makes him 85 in 2020. Give him one film like that and then make him reborn as ‘Joseph’ as he was in the comics.

Other background options are:
Bosnian genocide, Rwanda genocide and Cambodian genocide.
Good to know that there's no shortage of fuck up things humanity has done to themselves.

Dont go down the SJW route like they have been doing by making him black or muslim. MCU will probably go the SJW route and make Magneto a gay who was persecuted for his homosexuality.

Fassbender's Magneto.

Although the Holocaust backstory was well used in the X-Men films, and adds to what X-Men is about, it was never always part of his history. It wasn't introduced until the 1980s. Magneto was actually inspired by Malcolm X amongst others.

Since MCU Dictator Kevin Feige likes to portray the US military as corrupt or incompetent, they'll probably make Magneto a soldier in the US Army during the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" days and Magneto gets discharged for coming out about his homosexuality.

The point of Magneto was that the Endlösung and the Shoah gave him such PTDS and anger that it made him a murderous sociopath himself. Getting discharged for coming out must be an aggravating experience but ist not quite the same, no? If it happened like that he would be more like Electro-Magneto having questionable motivation to hate.

And MCU already had a villain defeated by a Dance-Off. MCU's primary audience is kids so MCU likes to dumb down things. So I can see MCU doing something stupid like this.

Don’t ask, don’t tell, but Charles can read his mind, encourages him to come out and he gets thrown out of the military. They form teams, have a skirmish where no character dies, pay RDJ 50 million to cameo and build a special suit for Xavier and there’s another McMarvel hit.

Most SJWs think that criticising Christianity is the pinnacle of intellectualism.

That sounds like the blueprint for a typical MCU movie.
