With Halloween approaching, who is your favorite recurring horror / slasher villain?

wouldn't regard pinhead as a 'slasher' except for III to an extent - but he's always been my fave.
a psychological plodding intellectual mastermind.
love Jason, freddy and michael too .....
welcome to hell.

I always had a soft spot for the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. The first one is terrific, the third one is solid and the 4th one, while very 80s, has some great imagery and is overall a great example of the treasure trove of practical effects-laden horror movies of the second half of that decade. Even New Nightmare is a strong entry. That series has more imagination and is varied enough to keep it interesting, whereas Jason and Michael Myers, it's basically the same thing every time.
The first two Hellraisers are also really good, although Pinhead never really became the focal point or popularized until the 3rd one as frogs noted and once they did that, it became pretty stupid.
I'll say this though, the first Halloween is fucking awesome. Throughout the entirety of that movie, you're constantly on edge because Michael Myers is lurking around seemingly every corner. Two characters are innocently talking, and you see his car driving across the background. A few minutes later, you see him just on the fringes of the frame, such that you barely notice him but he's there. You can't create a better atmosphere.

Leprechaun and Pumpkinhead, but no Chucky? Anyway I went with Myers. I'm not a huge fan of slasher flicks but you have to respect the franchise that kickstarted the genre.

I almost consider those movies as comedies, especially from Bride of Chucky on. Re Pinhead: I was just trying to think of recurring horror characters. He’s probably a little different than, say, Jason, but he sometimes gets lumped in with the others.

In the minority - I love Rob Zombie's takes on Halloween.
My only problem is he cast Laurie Strode horribly wrong - turned her into an annoying whining Emo teen - should have stuck with the shy wallflower type Jamie Lee Curtis portrayed in Carpenters.
That being said - if one isn't a 'hater' on remakes/reboots - Zombies are definitely worth a watch if you're a horror fan.

Not a fan of reboots in general but I like what Rob Zombie did, at least with the first one. And agreed, the Laurie character in his version was completely forgettable.

Curse of Chucky (what was that #5 or so?) - with the chick in the wheelchair (think it went straight to DVD) was actually outstanding. Much better than some of the prior sequels. How about throwing Leatherface into the fray? TCM in my eyes is the ultimate 'kickstarter'. One of the few scenes out there that literally gave me chills - eerie music in the background is the icing on the cake:

That being said - if one isn't a 'hater' on remakes/reboots - Zombies are definitely worth a watch if you're a horror fan. I agree to an extent. The remake definitely gets more hate than it deserves, his version of Myers is definitely intimidating and intense, and Zombie tries to have the same "lurking" type of atmosphere I mentioned before about the original, although nowhere near as effectively. But still, he tried something different and I have to give him props for that. Where the movie goes off the rails for me is the opening act featuring his childhood. Again, I tip my cap to trying something different but at the end of the day, he just had asshole redneck parents, nothing that really seemed to justify taking a vow of silence and going on murderous rampages. It kinda takes the sting out of the rest of the movie for me. If you're going to create some sort of characterization for the villain, then make his backstory believable and have it somehow come back into play in a way that affects how he's ultimately defeated. A lost opportunity if you ask me. Pretty similar feelings on the second one too. It gets more hate than it deserves, but not my favorite entry. Definitely more watchable than some of the shitty sequels the original had but I agree with the Laurie character being annoying as hell.

My Aussie landlord suddenly started talking to me in his voice one night when we were having dinner. It was even more creepy than the real one.

I wasn’t even sure Curse was a sequel until 3/4 if the way thru the film. It watches like a total remake for the most part. Cult is just tons of fun.

Mick. Terrific movie. Apparently it's based on true events - there's some interesting docs out there on it. Protagonist in the movie was a suspect which the ending credits implied - 2nd one was a fun watch - have yet to see the series which I've heard great things about.

With Halloween approaching, who is your favorite recurring horror / slasher villain? Where is Jiggy the Just aka Jigsaw?! A human being, but also slasher and some see him as villain.
