is a charity award for Black Panther. I mean it will be an award for a film that no one thinks deserves one but it will be given to shut the MCU up.

The MCU is a little bit too good to winning awards, but Black Panther was light years better than Dark Knight so I'd be fine if it won something.

That’s the way most MCU fans think anyway.

Guys Light Years is a unit of distance not time.
a unit of astronomical distance equivalent to the distance that light travels in one year, which is 9.4607 × 10^12 km (nearly 6 trillion miles).
Might want to check you are right before you correct others

I can't accept that Black Panther is better than The Dark Knight. To each their own preference wise, and I certainly didn't think Black Panther was weak, but better than The Dark Knight is too tall an order for the MCU to fill. Its best offering, whatever it is, is a distant second to The Dark Knight. Which is no shortcoming on any of them. The Dark Knight swung for the fences. Black Panther is much more surface level, which isn't a criticism. It means it's a movie that aims to please without making deeper commentary. Nolan can drone on and he took so much time with the first and second act that the third was too rushed, but even with that, The Dark Knight is way ahead of Black Panther. Not light years, but far enough that if they won the same award years apart it would devalue the award.

Oscars are just a popularity contest with campaigns. The only thing the Oscars are is Hollywood voting on Homecoming King and Queen as adults. That's why I have no problem with the best Popular Oscar idea, at least that's honest. Instead of hiding the popularity contest under the guise of acknowledging what the makers of movies think are the best of that year. To be completely fucking and brutally honest, in my opinion there isn't one movie, writer, director, actor, or actress in any Comic book film that I feel deserves a nomination let alone a win. I love the Dark Knight but fuck it wasn't in the same ballpark, league, or sport as the other nominations. (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader, and Slumdog Millionaire) Even with Heath Ledger fucking awesome performance as Joker, so much so along with his drug habit probably killed him, I still don't think he should've been nominated. Save for RDJ in Tropic Thunder, there was no way his performance was on the level of the others in the category that year in my opinion. (Josh Brolin, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Michael Shannon) I can see the technical awards that comic book movies have gotten, but beyond that? I haven't seen a comic book movie that deserves a nomination. That's just me. I know tons of people who do.

That last line sounds more bitchy then I meant it to sound like. If that is actually the case then why not edit the post to leave only the correct definition?
Or was it that you wanted to be bitchy without sounding like a bitch?

Or was it that you wanted to be bitchy without sounding like a bitch? I wanted to sound a little bitchy but not as bitchy as it sounds. That's the context and the reason I posted the correction. I wanted it to be a little condescending, because they jumped on the previous poster to correct him when they were wrong. And Power Ranger piled on and had to get a dig on MCU fans. So a little bitchy was appropriate. Posting the correction gets that across.

It's metaphorical, shit for brains. Does distance OR time mean anything to the quality of a movie?

Light Years describes BOTH distance AND time. Duh! When you use that term with a scientist he/she immediately understands both the length of time and distance. J/S
