Whatever happened to bowling anyway? When I was growing up in 90's there were bowling alleys everywhere! Now, they're all gone.

Whatever happened to bowling anyway? When I was growing up in 90's there were bowling alleys everywhere! Now, they're all gone. There’s Robert Putnam’s famous sociology book, Bowling Alone, about the loss of civil society in the US, and Putnam uses the end of bowling-leagues as his premier example (though the phenomenon he analyzes is pre-‘90s). I nearly completely agree with him, and I think it’s a major reason for how terribly atomized (and, perhaps paradoxically, tribal) we’ve become. Serious comment over.

Bowling alleys are seeing a great resurgence with the hipster elite. So, no fear.

My dad actually was on the set of that film. He even got to talk to Woody Harrelson!
