A guilty-pleasure movie if there ever was one. It's sort of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Meets Beetlejuice.
I think I'm making it sound better than it actually is though.

I remember it being weirdly fun at times, but not particularly rewatchable from start to finish. It has a few memorable scenes but a lot of crazy stuff like the fat twins that really serve no purpose. Doesn't somebody have to sleep with Granny Aykroyd at one point?

This movie has the distinct honor of making me physically ill. It used to show all the time on cable and it was horrible, absolutely horrible.

All I remember is Aykroyd's fake nose looked like a penis, this was intentional too!

It Is! What'd you think of the 2011 version? I did like it, but I really love the original.

It gave us the classic song, "Same Song" by the Digital Underground. It was also Tupac Shakur's debut on record (as well appearance on film). Eazy-E and Dr. Dre (who were still part of N.W.A) also appear in the music video.
Nostalgia for old-school hip-hop aside, I can't think of many positive things to say about this film. The humor falls flat and all the performances are terrible. Chase looks bored out of his mind.
Dan Aykroyd had a fun premise behind the film, but the execution was terrible.

I have nostalgic memory of my cousin renting this for me while I was sick at home. Like another poster said, I could tell Chevy Chase looked bored and wasn't putting in any effort. Other than that I liked it and it became a frequent rental after that. I just read a little while ago the idea was spawned when Akroyd and I think one of the producers went to see Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and were inspired to make a comedy based on it.

With all the weird shit happening in this movie, I do wonder what a Ghostbusters 3 directed by Dan Aykroyd would look like. Perhaps something like this?
