Better than letting the series grow stale-er if you’re already unhappy with its direction.

Sadly I think it's what makes Netflix better than the networks that will bring the end to the Marvel series.
While the Netflix shows got up to 12 million viewers in the initial weeks of release, the DC CW shows have all plummeted with each season, with only flash now getting over 2m an episode (supergirl was averaging nearly 10m in the first season, and then dropped to around 3 in the second...none of the other shows have peaked over 4.6 and all have dropped with each subsequent season). But the advertising revenue probably keeps them on screen. A revenue Netflix does not have. Netflix mostly has to reply on subscriptions, and with the way they release their shows, usually as a whole season, they are more likely to be illegally downloaded than a weekly show.
They are making shows with what seems in comparison to other shows, high production values, with viewing figures some network shows can't reach, but on a platform that doesn't seem to exploit the revenue they could make.

As far as I know, Netflix sole source of revenue is streaming subscriptions (and DVD mailing which is also subscription based). In a business model that is reliant on quarter-over-quarter subscriber growth, are views really all that important? Maybe but, what is definitely more critical is attracting new subscribers with more and better content. The Marvel shows, with the exception of Daredevil, are no longer able to attract new subscribers and retention of existing subscribers who came for their shows is likely dropping off. Marvel shows just aren't good business for Netflix anymore. Netflix bankrolled the Marvel shows, distributed them and, more importantly, provided a platform in which Marvel content could be more adult themed without significantly hurting Disney's "wholesome" reputation.

All of the above points are valid. But also I wouldn't put it past Disney/Marvel Studios to be manipulating business deals so that they can re-absorb the rights to ALL their characters for their own upcoming streaming service(s).
If, IF, the Disney streaming service encompasses ALL Disney properties (Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, cartoons, etc) then I will subscribe to it. If it has ALL that content then it will be worth it. That's a lot of cool content that I already like.
But I have a feeling that instead they'll do separate streaming services for each studio: Marvel alone, Lucasfilm/StarWars alone, Pixar alone, etc. That would suck for us, but it would be where the money is, for them.

It would work for me since I'm out on Star Wars and I couldn't care less about Pixar.

I really hope we see more. Daredevil Season 3 was incredible and I definitely want to see more of the Punisher.
