Anyone getting it? I will at some point but I prefer to wait until I'm done with one of my essays.
97 on Metacritic out of 76 reviews.

I don't have any modern consoles so I can't play but I did like the previous two games. I like them more than GTA series but Mafia series is still king in my book for those types of games.

A lot of works has gone into this one (there were even complaints about a 100 hour work week for the developers). I liked the first one, though one of the few games I like more for the visuals than the gameplay (the huge open environments are absoutely breathtaking, the combat is rather repetitive). I'm not a huge fan of "sandbox" games though, they pride themselves on having huge environments and hours of gameplay, but a huge chunk of that gameplay is just a bunch of running/driving to get to the next mission.

All my PSN friends are getting it, so I probably should.

That was taken out of context & embellished.
Funny thing is... Rockstar cut ties with the "LA Noire" developer, which was pretty much like a sweatshop. They must treat their employees well & have integrity.

I don't either. I keep thinking about getting one of the new ones, though I often hear PC gaming is the better option at this point.

lowtacks86When it comes to shooter types of games they are far better on a PC if you ask me solely because mouse+keyboard easily tops a consoles controller/analog stick. a mouse takes less time to get your crosshairs on target than a consoles analog stick as I simply am quite handicapped when using a analog stick to track stuff on screen (I am easily worse than most people for sure on shooters with a analog stick for aiming(I am confident of this claim to)) where as with a mouse I am up to a passable standard to where I can enjoy playing shooter games on the PC unlike consoles. plus, as a little bonus... PC games are ahead of consoles in terms of graphics etc. but I was able to play the previous two Red Dead games (Red Dead Revolver/Read Dead Redemption) due to that lock on feature but it takes a bit of the fun out of the game since your doing less aiming as with the lock on, if I recall correctly, it pretty much locks you onto the basic target and then using the analog stick you can fine tune a little where it hits. so basically the game itself is somewhat aiming for me even though I do have some control over it but it's not free aim like your typical shooter is supposed to be played. but at least it was okay-ish for me to play and complete the games. but as far as consoles in general... I owned a pretty good portion of them in the past (I have basically been playing video games since the late 1980's/early 1990's(I was born late 1979) so I can clearly remember the transition from 2D-to-3D in the 1995-1997 area etc) but this current generation of consoles (PS4/XBoxOne) is pretty much the first consoles I have little to no interest in simply because the money I would have to invest I would not get a large enough return of enjoyment out of them. I would rather put that $$$ in the future towards another PC build as I plan on holding onto my current PC for a while to come as the general core of my main computer (i.e. motherboard/CPU/RAM) I had since May 2012 (my GPU I got in July 2017 for $135 which I got lucky as that was just before that damn Bitcoin BS really jacked up the prices of the GPU's and they seem to be finally recovering a bit) and ill likely have it for AT LEAST another 2-3+ years I suspect. but good thing is when I do decide to build another PC ill get a huge boost in performance for minimal $. ill probably cut corners to so I can save $ like use my current SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250GB) in the new build etc which will save me $50-100 right there. sure, I won't have the full on performance of those non-SATA based SSD's but I suspect it will be good enough as even currently my SSD is only on a SATA II port so 300MB/s is the limit even though the drive is capable of going noticeably faster but I heard for general boot up times etc SATA II or SATA III connection to the SSD don't really matter much etc etc. p.s. but most of my gaming is replaying games I have played in the past and my PC is at least good enough to play the games I like as my basic specs are... i3-2120 CPU with a Geforce 1050 Ti 4GB GPU. my CPU is easily the weak link of my setup but it's good enough for 1080p level gaming as long as the game is not too demanding. NOTE: the last time I played a console shooter and really enjoyed it was back in the old days before consoles became modern which was GoldenEye on N64. but you can pretty much say consoles became modern with the PS2/XBox era which was the year 2000/2001 and GoldenEye was basically 1997-1998 as in 1999 I became too used to a mouse+keyboard with Counter-Strike etc and could not go back to a analog stick on shooters. a mouse is just more natural/easier to get on target faster.

I am definitely going to get it but I’d like to wait until my COD Blackout enjoyment dwindles.

Impressive animation. But I'm not going to watch too much gameplay & ruin the experience once I eventually get it.

It's a huge game. 2 disks and well over 100G, so clear out some space in your PS4/XBox. This is story mode only too. The online multiplayer doesn't even come out till next month.

I wouldn't be surprised if they milked this game as long as they did GTA 5 which has been around 5 years. Edit: I've been playing it for the past 45 minutes or so. I'm not going to give anything away, but it starts kind of slow. So far its been a bunch of mundane things that are no doubt meant to get us used to what the controls are. I'm sure things will pick up.

That's either really great or not-so-great if it becomes repetitive.

Damn, that's quite a long time. I'm hoping it becomes more like the first game as well as GTA in that you can take a break in the story and roam around and do your own thing. So far it's been nothing but linear, but things are just being established so I'm sure things will broaden a bit.

Yeah but again bunch of those hours is probably just running/horseriding to the next mission as is often the case with huge open world games.
