Well he can only do it for so long before he and/or his character grew tiresome.

Yeah, but I think that franchise is pretty much went on long enough (they should have ended it after the 3rd or 4th movie) as it was basically a cash machine but that's about it. but Depp clearly don't need the $.

I’m personally fine with that. He’s been playing the role long enough and deserves to retire. We’ll all miss ya Johnny.

Those fools plan to continue making more movies without him? Yeah, that's gonna be a big hit.

Can anyone say Cutthroat Island? Hey, I'd pay to see a rerelease of that in theaters.

They're still making those movies? The last one came out last year. Am I the only one here that saw it?

He was their only selling point for the last 2 sequels. They'll need a mild reboot embracing the POTC atmosphere as a whole rather than trying to make another star.

I'm assuming they'll be making prequels since they set that up in Dead Men Tell no Tales.

They should have stopped making those movies after the third one.

The reboot is planning on using Redd, the lady pirate from the ride. *COUGH COUGH* cast Karen Gillan *COUGH COUGH*.

Though I like Depp (and this character), I ended up losing interest after the 3rd movie. They focused way too much on him (in the first and best movie, he's almost in more of a supporting role, rather than a lead) as the series went on, and it stripped him of the mystery that made him such an interesting presence in the first movie. I've thought the character got sort of tired by the end of the 3rd.
Tell me Geoffrey Rush is hanging around though. He (followed closely by the first mate, Gibbs) were the real swash in those buckles for me.
