despite the obvious ones being mentioned above - The Departed and Boogie Nights he was also fantastic in The Basketball Diaries and Daddy's Home...... he was tremendous in The Fighter and great in Invincible verdict - great actor - court adjourned He was decent in The Fighter. Bale blew him off the screen, though. Bale was phenomenal. Great method actor Check out 'The Machinist' - he ate an apple and can of tuna only for 3 months to get anorexic looking for the role of an insomniac who couldn't sleep because of guilt

He's one of the best actors out there right now, he makes every film he's in better.

He's an ok actor who has been in some great movies, his agent is the real genius. The Fighter is probably my favorite performance of his, even though he is overshadowed by Bale.
Let's get back to Fear for a second. I've never seen it, but saw it listed on my channels the other night and thought about watching. Is it worth it, and even more important, does Reese Witherspoon have any nude scenes? Cuz if so, I need to check it out.

Fear is Shakespearan - but there's no nude Reese - now - back to another post on here about underrated Horror Flicks 'The Gift' - epic flick - and you get to see a dead Katie Holmes rack - can't recommend it enough. Godspeed

He's a competent actor that has a certain presence on the screen that lends his roles some gravitas that, say, James Marsden and Josh Hartnett (the latter in particular is a better actor than Marky Mark), don't. He seems well aware of his limitations and rarely steps outside them, and because of that he's enjoyed a successful career. Perfect example of the old adage: You're better off doing a couple of things well over and over again than doing a different thing well every time.

And on the 7th Day - God Created Hollywood!

I don't think having one performance or a set screen persona is a bad thing. As a matter of fact almost every Hollywood legend has done so. Look at someone like Leslie Nielsen. If you look at Ransom! From the 60s it's filmed in deep focus. That guy is in the background of every shot and he's giving to the other actors. Why? Because that's what good actors do. And Nielsen did it for decades. But what's he known for? Playing your senile uncle on a day pass from the home over and over again after Airplane. Is that a tragedy? Hardly. Real tragedy would have been his never finding that persona and him being best known as a killer in a Columbo episode who had a bit part in The Poseidon Adventure.
I give Wahlberg credit for working out early what worked for him and making a successful career of it.

He's slightly better than Keanu. Well maybe whatever is a little bit less than "slightly better" he's that compared to Neo.

I can't say he's a good actor but he's okay. I do tend to like quite a few of his movies though and that's all I care about. I'll take some fun Wahlberg movies over some "master actor" movies of Daniel Day Lewis any day.
Mark Wahlberg movies I enjoy: 4 Brothers Three Kings Ted The Fighter 2 Guns The Other Guys Date Night Max Payne (openly say it's not a good movie but I enjoy a lot of bad movies) Shooter The Departed The Italian Job Rock Star The Perfect Storm
So yeah, he may not be a good actor but what I care about is whether or not they're in movies I enjoy and not being so bad that I want to turn them off.

This ending to the movie Rock Star is so awesome, and the song in the end is just perfect.
It also has a connection with me because the same song was used towards the greatest professional wrestler of all time (IMO) Shawn Michaels' retirement.

I think the screwjob was real simply because Bret Hart has just gotten so bitter about all of it and wrestling in general still to this day. If it was all a work idk why he'd still be such a bitter old man in terms of it.

Just my opinion, He's 'bitter' because of the events that happened after the storyline unfolded Owen's death and the numerous deaths in his family. Failing to get over in WCW after they did everything for him. His career ending concussion to Goldberg. Everything was set up for Bret to return years down the road to benefit everybody - what a shocker - he did return - only a shell of his former self unable to perform at the best of his capabilities - him and McMahon still managed to work an angle out of it - they're carny workers - it was all a giant work but it just didn't play out to plan due to 'life'.
