SIN CITY (2005) 5/5.
An absolutely amazing American neo-noir crime anthology film, which is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name. It was written by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, produced by Elizabeth Avellan, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez and directed by Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez and special guest director Quentin Tarantino. The soundtrack for the film is provided by John Debney, Graeme Revell and Robert Rodriguez.
The film consists of four short stories that occasionally overlap. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT involves a hired assassin carrying out his contract kill. THAT YELLOW BASTARD follows an aging police officer who protects a young woman from a grotesque serial killer. THE HARD GOODBYE is about a man who embarks on a brutal rampage in search of his sweetheart's killer. THE BIG FAT KILL focuses on an average guy who gets caught in a street war between a group of prostitutes, a group of mercenaries, the police and the mob.
It stars Jessica Alba, Benicio del Toro, Brittany Murphy, Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Powers Boothe, Rutger Hauer, Elijah Wood, Alexis Bledel, Michael Clarke Duncan, Rosario Dawson, Carla Gugino, Jaime King, Michael Madsen and Nick Stahl. This is a must-see film for anyone who enjoys first class story-telling.

I thought it was a first-class effort when I first saw it and I still do.
