Where would you start and end? me: 1950 to 1990 The same here.
At least I know I'd enjoy the music, books, TV and films from that era.
And to be perfectly honest, that era still makes more sense to me than the present does.

Where would you start and end? me: 1950 to 1990 Been there; done that. And survived. Now, if you mean living in decades one hasn't experienced, I guess I'd choose 1910 - 1950. Lots of hardship and turmoil, sure, but which decades haven't had their share? Why those? It most likely has to do with a combination of their having been the four that immediately preceded my birth (and therefore involved personal history of sorts in terms of people with whom I had direct connections who lived through them), and the fact of their having represented the modern industrial era (I'm a person who likes my basic creature comforts, and doesn't want to build a fire to keep warm or have to go out and kill dinner). Care to share why you chose yours?

I’d start now with hopes that the next 40 will be better.

2100 to 2140.
I'm interested to know what the future is like, and I figure 2100 is far enough away for fun changes but not so far as to be incomprehensibly alien.

I can't see most people, outside of seeing some events, wanting to go back prior to sometime in the 1900's due to lack of modern conveniences (modern plumbing(toilet/shower)/air conditioning etc) which I think many of us would find it difficult to adjust to assuming we know what we know now and just suddenly go back to those time frames. looking around online it seems the modern toilet has only been around since 1920 (according to here... ellerservices.com/a-brief-history-of-modern-plumbing/ ) and I would assume it was quite a while after that before they became more common in houses. but assuming we go into the not too distant past... maybe something like 1950-1990 like the OP said as it's a nice balance of the old days and today and your not going too far back to lose too many modern conveniences. but I think I would like to see the future. maybe something like graham said with the 2100-2140 as seeing technology advancements etc would be cool but like he was saying it's not so far into the future to where it would be unrecognizable from today. but I wonder whether we will see as much advancement from the last 100 years til today at that rate into the future? ; like say 1918-2018 vs 2018-2118, like which will be the bigger overall increase. I would imagine 1918 til today would be a bigger overall increase for humanity than going from 2018 to 2118 would be. just some random thoughts

I would choose the future. Because I believe things will only get better.

My first instinct was the same as yours, or 1960-2000, but then I realized how much good movies/tv shows/games I'd miss from the 2000s and early 2010s despite how bad the world started getting then.
Might have to go with something like 1973-2013. (if we can choose specific years to start) If not, then 1970-2010

I would choose the future. Because I believe things will only get better. May I ask why you think that? do you mean technology? I mean everything. Not just technology. First of all, I am a Star Trek fan. Outer space thrills me. I believe Star Trek is the general prediction of the future. Secondly, with some temporary exceptions, the further we go back in the past, the worse things were. In my opinion life is better now than it was 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1,000 . . . years ago. It has continued to get better. And it will only continue.

I would choose the future. Because I believe things will only get better. Take your eyes off your smartphone for a second and stick your head out the window. The world is in a terrible state and only seems to be getting worse. Don't be so gullible to believe things are actually good. All your MCU movies and social media are just a distraction to hide the truth from you.

Generallly speaking, we do more and more every day to protect the environment. Don't be so fatalistic.

Sure we are: here's just an example of what we are doing: World's vertebrate population dropped by 60 percent since 1970, WWF says
