Mine is "Carrie"; runner-up is "The Dead Zone" (both the original versions) Do you think you could give us 3 options on these polls? 1 option is very limiting. I was not aware there was a way to select more than one. Once, when I tried to select a second choice, my first choice automatically got deleted (in favor of the second one).

Dolores Claiborne. Truly, because of the acting performances of everyone involved. How Kathy Bates didn't get nominated for best actress is a travesty Kathy Bates was wonderful in this movie. Actually much better than she was in "Misery", and she was pretty good in that movie. It's just that character was kind of a campy joke, whereas Dolores Claiborne was very much a three dimensional character.

Yes, when you create a poll, it asks for Poll Question at the top, then just below that it says Poll Answers, then below that it says Poll Options and provides a box with the number 1 in it. Just change that number to 3 (or whatever number of options you want to allow) and that will allow people to choose more options.

I really think that you wouldn't. But I could be wrong. I was emphasizing how much I hate the idea of everyone agreeing. You're a bad dude, brah.

Where's The Shawshank Redemption? Not including That makes no sense at all. Which is the same way I feel when people love The Shining. A great sense of dread wasted by embarrassingly over the top performances by JN and SD. They are both cringe worthy at times but Duvall is insanely annoying. Every change from the novel is for the worse. Far too many scenes are laughable considering it's a horror movie. The fact people who hate horror movies love The Shining is proof oh how shitty it is.
The Simpsons version of it is great tho.

Well, wherever they are, they're not on this particular list.

I chose FIRESTARTER -84' because I feel it is under-rated and it is also very faithful to what the novel contains. Most of King's adaptations jettison and\or change many elements from the source material. Also, going by that rule, I would then choose STAND BY ME - 86' from the list as my second choice, because it is also very faithful and gets to the feel and essence of King's novella The Body.
Not on the list is THE GREEN MILE - 99', which is mega faithful and one of the best King stories and film adaptations ever of one of his novels.

How Kathy Bates didn't get nominated for best actress is a travesty Dolores Claiborne is my favorite King novel of his that I have read. I also like the film very much, but it was also opened out quite a bit from the novel, making Selena an adult character in the film. It did work well, but I didn't vote for it due to the changes made. It still managed to get the intimate feel though.
Yes, Bates was superb. The thing is, there are only 5 slots and 1995 was a terrific year for leading ladies. Nicole Kidman also missed out for To Die For, in which is one of her better performances.

Shawshank Redemption and Misery.
The other films on the list are crap or I do not care for them.

The Stand was a movie?
I remember the mini-series.
Stand By Me (Close second is Misery) among that list but the real answer is Shawshank Redemption.

It bothers me that you didn't list all the movies based on a Stephen King book. Many of his other movies are better than Cujo imo.
Why may I ask, did you exclude some of the more beloved ones? Let me guess, it's because YOU dislike them. Well, to address your first point, around 50 of Stephen King's novels/short stories have been made into film, and to have included all these would have made it a ridiculously long poll. To address your second point, I don't know for sure which Stephen King books ARE "more beloved" than CUJO (not that I thought this book was a fan favorite in particular). I thought 13 titles was sufficient for a poll like this. And I don't even know most of the books that have been made into movies. I was not about to spend 45 minutes coming up with this poll. And, besides, there only three on this list of 13 that I really like a lot. (Carrie, The Dead Zone, and Dolores Claiborne). I didn't like "Firestarter" and I didn't like "It" and I thought "Pet Semetary" was terrible. I haven't even seen "The Stand", but I included it on the poll because I've read that some people think it's his masterpiece. Besides any of that, why wouldn't the person who created such a poll NOT included titles that he or she loved? I have never read a Danielle Steele book in my life (and probably never will), so really it would make no sense for me to create a poll "what is your favorite DS book that has been made into a movie" and then go ahead and include a bunch of titles that I found on some random list. In basic terms, I made the list for fun. If my list actually OFFENDED you, then why don't YOU go make your own list with whatever titles you think should be included and then you can feel satisfied? I already have made a poll asking this exact question last year and included ALL of the movies that have been adapted from his books/short stories. It really isn't hard to Google "list of Stephen King movies." Why didn't you list an OTHER option? You haven't offended me, I just hate polls that appear biased. The most glaring omissions are The Shawashank Redemption and The Green Mile. Creepshow isn't even adapted from a Stephen King book.

The Tommyknockers and The Langoliers aren't films, they are mini-series. That is what I would say if The Stand wasn't listed in the poll.
