Can't wait to make a film out of this. My script will be the best, so the jealous hacks in the writer's guild won't use it.
But enough about that for now.
What to do? What to do?
I don't see this as an "invasion", but I do see it as a groundwork for "invaders" to study, so special care should be used.
Just for the sake of this post, we'll say that 4000 migrants make it to the border without picking up some other interest on the way. So, lets say we're dealing with 4000 people. All ages, all sexes, all forms of marital or single status, and the usual percentage of creeps inside.
Now, the reason the "creeps" sneak in so easy is because they aren't single men who stand out. They're family men who people feel empathy for. That's why the creeps get married and have children, for a "front". This is true 95% of the time at least.
Most of the people are really "dreamers", and it's important to help them in their dream. They don't need "tough love" or obstacles, but we don't need to let the few terrorists and monsters among them have an easy ride in.
I'm not familiar with the topography of the area they'll enter, but ideally, I would like to see a tent city allotted to them, along with raw materials for them to build better.
I'm not saying to confiscate private land, but to use public land, at least a bit of it arable.
Along with raw materials to build homes, grow crops, and make livings, our government could provide a "school tent", a "medical tent", a "police tent", and a "government tent". Not sure how many employees would be needed, but they need humane services and protection from predators. It should be a "forward thinking police force" of course, there to serve the people and help them in times of trouble.
Meanwhile, I do believe the government should do security screening on all of them, in an amiable way of course. In such a way that the people don't even know they're being screened.
I don't like the idea of a military force there, unless it's simply a construction sort of force for the tent city I describe, with clerks instead of MPs.. A military force is quite obviously a disaster waiting to happen. It would take a miracle to avoid an incident with tired, forlorn, disappointed people staring a military force in the face. And I mean a real supernatural miracle.
