A difficult question. Audrey is always charming and a delight to watch. Katharine at her worst can be close to unbearable - however her greatest performances (Alice Adams, Long Day's Journey into Night etc.) are beyond anything Audrey achieved... I guess I'll give it to Katharine, but with strong reservations.

Somehow seeing Audrey Hepburn described as "hot" and reading "most guys want Audrey" strikes me as creepy in the same way hearing one's kid sister or mom described in those words would be on the creepy side.

That's almost unsettling that this person could not be convinced of a rather simple and obvious truth. Apparently they wanted this to be true. The kitten on the left is very cute, but I bet it was a bundle of high energy and probably still had its claws. Much of the time cats freak me out. Only lazy lap cats I really like. I love pussy cats over doggies Mr. Dirty. Treat the cat right and you may not feel its claws. I love how they stretch and extend their claws like Freddy Krueger.
I know people make comparisons with Kat and Aud due to sharing the same surname and that they are both classic actresses, but apart from that, I don't really get why the correlation? If they looked similar, or had similar styles, or had some infamous connection like the Davis\Crawford feud then I would get the parallels. Katherine was also born in the same era as Davis and Crawford, Audrey wasn't born until the end of the 20's.
Yes, I know you prefer kitties over doggies, Toasted Cheese. That's cool. I think I like the sloppy affectionate dependence that comes from a dog. I find it extremely endearing. I like some cats, though. Their shared surname is the thing they have in common that made me think to do the post. Also, I always got the impression that audience goers would be close to split down the middle when it came to choosing a favorite, as both women have their own thing, and so I didn't think their be an obvious "winner". Personally, I just found Hepburn so full of herself that I couldn't stand it. Plus, she really did not have that much of a sense of humor and I think she enjoyed making people feel uncomfortable. Joseph Mankiewicz said she had terrible, dry, scaly skin and I believe it because I do find Hepburn reptilian.

Yes, I agree. Audrey Hepburn was the kind of person that other people would want to protect and keep innocent, for lack of a better word. And not just men, either. I think men and women both would have loved Audrey.

I think men and women both would have loved Audrey. Audrey had a special something that was light and radiant and just beauty personified. She was instantly likeable and endearing to look at and almost ethereal like.
I love her in The Nun's Story. She has me glued to the screen and her character also had a feistyness to it that Audrey was also able to convey believably. It was an undercurrent that belied her vows as a Nun and had subtle depth to it.
I liked that movie a lot. I need to see it again. It was a very good role for her.

Must get another. I have only seen the film twice, but would gladly view again. I need to re-watch Wait Until Dark. Have only seen this once on tv when I was a brat. "Wait Until Dark" is my favorite of Audrey's characters. It's great suspense and I have seen it many times. Were you a brat, TC? I probably was!

I dare say most guys want Audrey, so "Audrey" is the "guy" pick. I'm with the consensus in this, because while Audrey was obviously hotter, Kate was still a legend on stage and screen. I would think that many women would like Audrey for her fashion ease and her sweet, non-threatening manner. Though some women would probably choose Kate because she was a trailblazer for women. Kate Hepburn is just about the least "hot" female imaginable.

Katherine, because she plays more interesting characters on the whole, and there are more films.of hers I enjoy than films of Audrey's. I don't dislike Audrey though, a good actress and very beautiful, but rather more fragile than Katherine.

Actually that is far more creepy How do you figure? Because its portrays an adult woman as being a little girl.

Because its portrays an adult woman as being a little girl. Or more like it portrays an adult as having child like qualities, such as innocence or vulnerability. And I didn't say or imply anything regarding the gender of the person. You inferred it. There are adult males that bring out the same instincts in me (and I am sure others as well) that an adult female like Audrey Hepburn does. This makes your above post sexist in its inference.
