I read that there was crowd trouble at this training session, since 80000 people showed up at a stadium that only holds 50000.
The second leg will be played at River Plate's stadium, with only home fans allowed - apparently that's been the practice in Argentina for the past few years, to prevent violent clashes. It's sad that such a measure is needed.

Is tonight's second leg going ahead? One Boca player has been taken to hospital after the Boca team bus was attacked by River fans. Police fired tear gas to disperse the River hooligans but the gas went through the broken windows of the bus and several Boca players are suffering.
It's due to kick off in less than an hour. It'll surely go ahead. How do you evacuate 70,000 hyped up fans?

It will be interesting to see what COMEBOL does if the game is called off (Either Boca lose 3-0 for not wanting to play or River loses 3-0 for not guaranteeing safety)

CONMEBOL wanted it played, even produced a rushed printed statement to the effect that their medics could find no reason for the BOCA players not to play, despite many of them just being tear-gassed. There's still 70,000 unhappy bunnies in the stadium to get out. |
