He played a bomb expert. Mickey Spillane was also in the episode, as well as pretty Mariette Hartley. I love that show.

Not a single mention of John Lennon? I knew nothing about his death until the next afternoon. I had not watched television or heard the radio and then I got together with a couple of friends who said nothing about it until the conversation turned to music and I said "John Lennon just put out a great album". Then they told me. It was quite a shock. Even more shocking when I learned the details of it later.
Other than that, the deaths of Robin William and Michael Jackson were certainly unexpected. The most disappointing celebrity death to me, as far as I can remember, was Keith Emerson's suicide which was not very long ago. I was a big fan.

Well, with the exception of Grace, most of these are relatively recent. Nowadays, sudden death (especially when it's health related) is shocking. I mean, my neighbor's mother just died this summer and she outlived so many at the same time doing a fraction of what they did in their lives. Not dissing anyone, just saying. I wasn't waiting for Michael Jackson to die but I was not at all shocked when he died. I was waiting for that other shoe to drop for the longest time.

• Michael Jackson - I know the guy had legal issues, but never would I have expected a drug overdose.
• Heath Ledger - His role in The Dark Knight really got to him. Very dedicated actor.
• Anton Yelchin - Freak accident.
• Lisa Lopes (Left Eye from TLC) - Another freak accident. She just kinda veered off the road and died instantly.
• Princess Diana - Seems like she had bad luck written all over her, especially with what had happened prior to the accident.
• Nelsan Ellis - Young guy, died from alcohol withdrawal.
• Philip Seymour Hoffman - Secret drug problem.
• Phil Hartman - Murdered by his wife.
• Selena Quintanilla-Pérez - To me, this one was the biggest shocker. Shot and killed by the president of her fan club at the age of 23. I swear if she were alive today, Selena would've made it big.

Tara Palmer Tomkinson, believe it or not.
She seemed like a lovely women, and she tried her best to get by, in spite of the media attacking her at every turn.
I feel dreadfully sorry for her.

Rik Mayall. I often think about him. I definitely agree with you on that one.
Not even the slightest chance of a 'Young ones' type sitcom.
Terrible that!

I think any actor who dies from a homicide would be a shock. If I had been aware, I would have been shocked at Dominique Dunne's strangulation death. And I will say that Sharon Tate's gruesome murder shocked me, even though it happened a year before I was even born. I read "Helter Skelter" when I was 12 years old, and I can never forget the picture of Sharon Tate when her head is at a tilt and her long, honey blonde hair is hanging off to the side. And she was absolutely beautiful. Just knowing how she died will always be unnerving. In fact, whenever I come across a person who has the last name "Tate", I get a little weirded out. My mind makes the immediate association. It's part of my psyche, and I am sure I am not the only one.

I mentioned Lennon a couple of days ago here, but I agree, I was surprised no one else had up to that point.
