Pretty good IMO. as could be expected , all actors had their own pronunciation of the swedish names, Gudnasson of course being correct since he speaks swedish. It was fun for me as as swede to see the swedish locales, and they were used pretty well. Lisbeth's secret hideout in the beginning of the movie was filmed about 100 meter from where I lived 2 years ago. In one of the helicopter camera pans I could also spot the mall of my home town. Some cool unexpected gore as well (at least for me who didn't read the books) with great VFX. downside is that Lisbeth didn't look very edgy, a far cry from Noomi and Rooney's Lisbeth. She only wears they white war paint in the first scene of the film. Another downside is that it was a little too much like an actioner than a vigilante/whodunnit/thriller film. Rooney ![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/35/37/a3/3537a36ca3db8ee1bd5e923aa7e09e82.jpg) Noomi ![](https://images.csmonitor.com/csmarchives/2011/01/AX187_095B_9.JPG?alias=standard_900x600nc) Claire ![](https://www.thewrap.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/spider-1.jpg)

Thanks for reviewing it. I was a huge fan of the 2011 film and was disappointed that they didn't continue on with Craig and Mara. But this new version sounds about on par with the that one.
I haven't read any of the books or watched the original Swedish films. But maybe one day I will.

I haven't read any of the books or watched the original Swedish films. But maybe one day I will. Unless you have a problem with swedish films (which i can't blame you for, swedish acting very often has a strangely cheesy quality to it, almost "by default".. it's hard to explain, and maybe non-swedes can't even tell, hah), they're defo worth it. The extended versions are better if you're a completionist like me and want to squeeze out every minute available from the lore. for reference the 2011 american adaptation is an almost scene-for-scene reshot of the 2009 swedish film (with some added Fincher macabreness ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/w7v8ch9qx/cooldance.gif) , and with a change that was unecessary in my mind: in the swedish versions Lisbeth's hacker confidante is a fat neckbeard stereotypical computer nerd, in Fincher's version he is a skinny goth dude). Spider's Web does not have any swedish cinematic adaptations and from what i've read is very loosely adapted on book 4. the original author planned 10 books but only completed 3 before he died so I surely hope we will se another 5-6 movies ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/6iyu78crd/evil7.gif)

ok this was bad. quite bad. Claire Foy did well, but why on earth would they make Mikael SO young? Gundersson may be 40 now, but he looks 30 in the film. They had no chemistry whatsoever with Lizbeth, plus he looked too good and too untouched by what he has ever been through. Poor casting choice. Not the actors fault. Same with Erika BErger. Why so young and bland??
it had no real story arch, very bad script, it was hard to follow let alone keep engaged or feel anything for anyone. complete loss of characters depth for all involved.
cinematography was good, production design great, Claire Foy did all she could, but her Lizbeth just didnt have the drive and depth the previous ones had. Plus with the script lacking and the extremely young and pretty looking and sounding Bloomkvist the pairing just didnt make sense and didnt work. And too much action. What is she now, Batman?
5/10 from me, and thats mostly for pretty Sweeden and camera work.

It was almost like the writers felt obligated to put him in but didnt really want to. So they kind of just shoved him into. A few scenes for no reason whatsoever. Like when lisbeth escaped the building and soid down the snow, and mikael just happened to be there at the bottom waiting for her. How in the hell? Other weird stuff. -salander is suddenly a martial arts expert - she can also ride motorcycles across frozen lakes - the cops didnt know how radio for patrol cars near th. Other side of the lake to continue the pursuit. - she tracks a criminal in a high speed chase after JUST being injected with tranquilizer - which was feebly explained away by her crushing up meth that just happened to be on a mirror she got to fall off the counter - THE NSA analyst, ex hacker, is also an expert marksman shooting guys with high tech x ray equipment, with a super high powered rifle he just happened to have access to because hes nsa - apparently jumping in a bathub full of water will protect you from a gas leak explosion that destroys her entire apartment, except for the bathtub, and conveniently, also the recorded security footage recorders in her backroom, the other back room which is separate from the safe room she hid in before. - im sure theres more but i fell asleep a little bit.

I thought Foy did a good job with what she was given, but the script was weak and expected the audience to not just suspend their disbelief, but to abandon disbelief altogether. And yeah, what was the deal with Mikael being so young? Didn't the dude have an adult daughter in the original Dragon Tattoo story, which takes place (presumably) years before the events of this film?

From the start I thought Claire Foy a bad choice to play Lisbeth. She just doesn't have that edgy look Lisbeth should have.

Rooney would've liked to reprise the role, but the director said, he wanted someone new as Lisbeth. At least, that's the official version.

How is Hoek? She was very impressive in Blade Runner 2049.
I guess I would rather root for her than for this....woman?

Well no more sequels. This bombed so massively. Fincher and Rooney dotched a deadly bullet by turning it down.
