that was said months ago already. And about other DCEU films too and we know how it turned out: WW was a bona fide serious CBM about the horrors of war, discovering love, and thankfully without idiotic laser gun battles in WWII or magic ice or magic potions a la MCU. Anyway, Aqua is the most ridiculous superhero ever. But the film looks nothing like phase 1 MCU (naturally considering the big battle set pieces and CGI). Still, if it must resemble MCU I hope it's phase 1 as this is the only phase with a lick of originality and creativity. After that came the raccoon turds. I know I am picking up the raccoon turd by its clean end, but one got to try...

Hulk : 4/10 (mediocre, borderline trash) Cap 1: 5.5/10 (dumb as shit, but ok children film) Thor 1: 6/10 (serviceable pseudo-mythological romance action) IM 1: 6.5 (solid origins film, the generic template on which many later MCU movies are based, aged badly) Avengers 7.5/10 (good MCU clobber film) Not as bad and generic as what came in phase 2: Thor 2, IM2 & 3, Avengers 2, AntMan, not to forget: GotG ( ) If Aquaman is a mix of IM (jerk becomes fishy hero), Avengers (big battles waves) and with a bit of Thor 1 (fish-out-of-water romance) but leaves out the scum & fish sticks (and adds something to the genre like the underwater world, environmental message) I would be ok with it.

Hmmm most of the weakest MCU movies came from Phase 1 so I'm not sure what to think about this.
At least from the trailers Aquaman does look better than most of them.

What does that even mean? That Aquaman's an origin movie? Duh.
Slow news day, anybody?

"#Aquaman is a phase 1 MCU film through and through, so if you liked those you’ll love it, if you didn’t you probably won’t get much enjoyment out of Aquaman."
If this Twitter reaction to an early Aquaman screening is accurate, will MCU haters pretend to enjoy it with their usual hypocrisy? The reason why this question is ass holy is that it doesn't allow for the possibility that the movie might be good and that we might enjoy it just because. There's nothing MCU hatery about it, there's nothing pretentious about it, and there's nothing hypocritical about it. So stop stirring the pot. And...
p.s. DCEU isn't in the "phase" department.

This is an odd comment. And there have been Marvel movie adaptations before the DCEU was a tickle in someone’s testicle. Batman 1989 and Superman: the Movie couldn’t have less to do with the DCEU. Character are almost unrecognizable, Snyder made sure of that.

They have been struggling to make a decent product. I blame the studio mentality They need comic people calling the shots, not old style studio thought.

I'm not sure I agree with the comic people making movies. There's actually VERY little to show that would work. Contrary to popular belief MCU movies are NOT made by Marvel comic people.
But I totally agree that old style studio thought it whats ruining DCEU.

I hope they can get it going. I blame Nolan to a point. The old school studio thought saw his movies were successful so everyone had to be shoehorned into that style. The purpose of different heroes is they represent different ideals. I really want a good Supes movie
