Originally made in 1948 as Kampen om Tungtvannet it was remade in 2015 as a six-part series. The central plot focused on the production of heavy water in Norway, the German appropriation of that water and the Allies attempts to destroy it. It also deals with Werner Heisenberg and his role in nuclear research into nuclear energy and a potential bomb. The crux of that is encapsulated in a scene in a laboratory when Heisenberg reveals to a student that it would take only 10 kilograms of U235 to produce the bomb, whereas he had previously led the Nazis to believe it would take much more.
Has anyone seen this semi-documentary? What do you think of it? And please forget the romantic scenes ending in the death of the young commando. That was for the Yanks.
