JURASSIC WORLD (2015) 4/5.
JURASSIC WORLD is an action-packed American science fiction film, which is also the fourth instalment of the JURASSIC PARK film franchise. The screenplay is by Colin Trevorrow, Derek Connolly, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, which is based upon a story by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, which in turn is based upon characters and concepts originally created by Michael Crichton. The soundtrack music is created by Michael Giacchino, with the original JURASSIC PARK themes composed by John Williams. The film is produced by Patrick Crowley and Frank Marshall and it is directed by Colin Trevorrow.
JURASSIC WORLD takes place on the same fictional island as JURASSIC PARK, off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, where a theme park populated with cloned dinosaurs has been in operation for ten years. The theme park plunges into chaos when a genetically created dinosaur breaks loose and goes on a rampage.
It stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, BD Wong, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Katie McGrath, Judy Greer and Jimmy Fallon. It's another highly entertaining film and a strong entry in the film series. However, there’s one thing I don’t quite understand. Considering the events that occurred in all three previous films, what sort of a parent would seriously consider sending their children to an island populated by dinosaurs?

They probably figured this time they spared no expense with public safety.

They probably figured this time they spared no expense with public safety. I'm sure I've heard that excuse before... somewhere.

I liked Jurassic World a lot when I first saw it in theaters, but when I caught it again a few months back on TV, it just didn’t work for me. The amount of contrived scenarios and plot-holes was so high that it completely broke my suspension of disbelief, and there’s never any sense of wonder about the dinosaurs. The first Jurassic Park is the only one in the series that really still satisfies me. (I haven’t seen Fallen Kingdom yet; I was going to see it, but then put it off when I read all the negative reviews, and then I pretty much forgot about it! )

It seems to me if they'd really had their shit together, a trilogy would have been the perfect length to tell a complete story, cover all the angles and give us a definitive ending, one way or the other. However, when JURASSIC PARK III came along, they blew that possibility right out of the water.
But what do I know?

Part of me does wonder why they bothered to continue the film series...
Oh well.
