No. I worked in food service for many years, and as a group we were and still are the butt of many jokes. I take in stride and just smile.

No but if any comedian is made to apologize then any comedian that offends anyone should have to apologize as well. The idea that certain groups should be treated as if they are special needs children is ridiculous unless those groups actually are special needs children.

Some things are off limits, even for comics, and they should be responsible enough to apologize when they cross a societal line.

A policy you'll endorse until the group you belong to is insulted.

However, it's ridiculous to say group A can spew vitriol about anyone they want but group B not only CAN'T have the same freedom as group A but group B also has to beg forgiveness if they make a joke that might possibly in some way hurt the feelings of groups A through Z.
For the record, I'm a male and jokes on my gender never require an apology nor should it.

Never.
Comedy is subjective. There is nothing in the world that doesn't offend someone. If a comedian offended you they probably got you thinking.
I *hate* when comedians wuss out and apologize.

Comedy is sacred.

Should they? Nah.
But if they genuinely feel bad, sure, why not? I don't mind if they don't, and I don't mind if they do.

A policy you'll endorse until the group you belong to is insulted. Nope never. Too many examples of you doing just that on this site to mention. Same goes with poelzig.

It depends on the circumstances and timing.

Absolutely not! Sick of whiney Politically Correct complaining about this or that and expecting an apology for something. To some a joke is funny to others it's not. You can't please everyone. If a person doesn't like the joke told then simply ignore it and move to the next. If you don't like a particular comedian's act then go see someone else. Comedians don't owe anyone an apology.
