the key term here is 'based on' folks as I know there are some factual discrepancies; however Cinderella Man is a gem:
this scene gave me chills - braddock fighting for his livelihood, family - living in poverty at the time - and trudging on despite being hurt, injured and a broken man

Yeah, gotta be Raging Bull. But I do think Miracle, Rudy and Invincible are all very good.
Friday Night Lights was alright too. But it's loosely based on actual events.

Some fine selections here but I've got to go with The Natural.

Great choice and for now I agree. I think the one and only thing they base that movie on is that there was a first Jamaican bobsled team.

Some fine selections here but I've got to go with The Natural. Very loosely based on true events. A few true events were used as inspiration, it makes no attempt to tell a remotely accurate depiction of reality. Still my favorite baseball movie, though.

I agree with you on all counts except for "Invincible" which was hokey and made up. They make it seem like Papale was just some bartender who tried out for the Eagles and made it when in reality he had played 2 seasons in the USFL and played semi-pro for many years up to his making the Eagles. I get that it's a movie and there is some made up stuff but that was over-the-top for me. Similiar to the Rookie, where they don't mention that he played a few years in the minors, they make it appear like he was just some teacher who made it to the majors out of the blue.

Some fine selections here but I've got to go with The Natural. The natural was 100% fiction - not based on any true story of any count and the movie wasn't even faithful to the book.

It canβt be Miracle. The true story was great (if not totally overrated by patriotic USA ! USA ! Chanting sycophants), but the movie sucked. Cinderella Man Raging Bull Cool Runnings All fine choices in this category. Iβd nominate βThis Sporting Lifeβ a gritty UK movie from the β60s, but a) itβs more a human drama than a sports movie and b) it may or may not be based on a true story. Good flick all the same.

Though not perfect, I'd go with Brian's Song (1971) (the original version..........I never saw the 'remake'). SAVE FERRIS
