On my computer, in my bedroom, in the family room, or in the living room.

At home using my computer's HDMI port (on back of my Geforce 1050 Ti 4GB GPU) connected to the TV's HDMI port through a 20' HDMI cable. works great for playing stuff in SD or HD on my 43" 1080p TV. basically I load up the movie on my computer screen side then drag the video file over to the TV side (which I setup so I drag towards and out the right side of the PC monitor to the TV) and then run it full screen. then I can use my keyboard to pause/play etc when needed. also, I have to switch sound output from PC speakers to TV everytime I want to use the TV for video playback but it's easy enough. what I said above was only in effect since basically May 2016 as far as playing HD on a TV goes. prior to that, for years, I was basically going between my 24" 1080p PC monitor for HD (which I had since early 2010) and, occasionally, my old style 25-27" TV, using a original XBox console running XBMC (XBox Media Center) for playing my SD video files.
so as you can see it was a pretty big upgrade going from my old setup to the new one. I suspect ill be using my current setup at least 10+ years as I am not concerned with going from standard HD (720p/1080p) to 4k(2160p) as I just can't imagine there will be a large enough increase in visuals to justify the $. I prefer 720p for HD in general because it's pretty much the same as 1080p but file sizes are noticeably smaller which saves hard drive space.

I have a nice old-style fainting couch I bought used for 50 bucks. It's in my bedroom and I like to sprawl out on it with my Wheat Thins and Pepsi- cola and watch 70s tv movies with my doggie. That's as close to perfection as I know.

On TV or Lapdog, mostly in the living room, then some in the bed- or in the fitness room when sitting on home trainer. I vastly prefer comfort chairs to couches.

We have a spare bedroom in the back of the house that I set up as a home theater. I've got 2 huge, over-stuffed recliners in front of a 55" TV with a soundbar. Works great for movies or ballgames!

In the living room, on a comfortable office chair with adjustable backrest. I have a 43" plasma TV.

That's as close to perfection as I know. I have been spending a lot of time at the movies again on new releases, but older films, plenty on my recliner in the lounge area and perhaps not as much as I would like. I spend more time on here, but since I started getting roomates, I can't really just watch what I want when I want.
You sound like you have a very cosy and perfect set up for yourself Mr. D. Do you have a decent size t.v? My current one is 50" plasma, which I have had for about 8 years.
Yes, it's very cozy. I think my tv set is 45". It's an older style one, with a tube and everything. I have no idea how it has lasted so long. I've had it since 1995.
