In 1993 Cage gave probably his most crazed performance as Eddie in Deadfall. Not his best hour in acting but a pretty damn amusing performance. Its overacting at its finest. However why reprise the role all these years later? Cage reappears as Eddie last year in Arsenal (aka Southern Justice). He looks liked a bizarre Sonny Bono clone with a putty nose and mustache thats about to fall off.
Deadfall (1993)
Arsenal (2017)

Terrible performance, if it can even be considered a performance.
I usually love his overacting, but in Deadfall it's more cringe-inducing than entertaining.

Perhaps this will explain it.

Its the performance we will remember him for. Screw Leaving Las Vegas. It's a performance I have tried to forget. That and his performance in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The Wicker Man and Bad Lieutenant are Nicolas Cage at his most OTT brilliant.

That's more bad overacting than good overacting.

I haven't seen Arsenal, but he is much better in that clip than he is in Deadfall imo.
